Multiple people in Worth County have been getting calls from people saying that there is a warrant for their arrest for delinquent taxes, and that they must put money onto a prepaid card to send to the scammers. These are scams; the IRS and other tax agencies will not call you. They will send you certified notices instead. Do not accept/return calls from people you do not know.
On December 10th, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Joe Downing (50) of Maryville alleging Failure to Equip Vehicle with 2 Headlamps.

On December 10th, Gentry County Assistant Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Andrew Konopasek (26) of New Hampton alleging Possessing Plates of Another Person and Driving While Revoked.
On December 10th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Jonathan Thompson (22) of Milwaukee (WI) alleging Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Speeding.
On December 11th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Brandon Hanaway (36) of St. Joseph alleging two counts Damage to Jail or Jail Property (Felony). Bond was set at $5,000 cash or corporate surety.
James Meek, Jr., 55, of Blockton was arrested on December 11, 2018 near the intersection State Highway 2 and Sherwood Avenue in Taylor County. Meek was charged with Eluding, Driving While Barred, and Reckless Driving. Additional charges are pending. Meek is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $4,300 bond.

Tangi Wilcox, 24, of Bedford was arrested on December 13, 2018 in the 2300 block of Tennessee Ave in Taylor County. She was charged with Driving While Suspended, a simple misdemeanor. Wilcox was additionally cited for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle and not wearing a seatbelt. Wilcox is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office on $300 bond.
On December 14th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Clara Davison (26) of Clarinda (IA) alleging Burglary (Felony) and two counts Stealing. Bond was set at $5,000, with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.
On 12-15-2018, a representative with the Maryville Elks Lodge reported the thefts of deer hides from their donation box located at their lodge to the Maryville Department of Public Safety. The Maryville Elks Lodge collects donated hides, pays for the process to turn them into gloves, and then donates the finished gloves to veterans. This is all donated time and money by the Elks Lodge and its members to provide veterans gloves free of charge. If you have any information regarding this case please contact us at 660-562-3209. If you may have been the person to take these hides, thinking they were free to the public or otherwise, we ask that you return them immediately. This is an honorable service provided by the Elks Lodge and its members which is not possible without the deer hides which are now stolen.
On December 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Bradley Porter (34) of Braddyville (IA) in Nodaway County on charges of DWI, Careless & Imprudent Driving, and No Seat Belt.
On December 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Deanna Busey (26) of St. Joseph in Harrison County on a St. Joseph City Warrant for Failure to Appear on a No Insurance ticket.
On December 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Dennis Bieghler (61) of Altoona (IA) in Harrison County on charges of DWI and Careless & Imprudent Driving.
On December 16th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department says Jeffrey McAlexander of Tingley was parked in the travel potion of J23 east of Diagonal, IA. McAlexander was found by a Deputy while on patrol. McAlexander was passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle. McAlexander was arrested and booked into Jail for Operating While Under the Influence 3rd Offense and Open Container.

Samantha Gile-Smith, 28, of Creston, was arrested on December 18, 2018 in the 200 block of East Ohio St in Lenox by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department. She was wanted on an active Taylor County Warrant for failure to appear on original charges of Controlled Substance Violations. During the arrest she was found to have controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in her possession. She was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Gile-Smith is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office on no bond, until seen by a Magistrate.
Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
