#1 Worth County 70, Braymer 6
This one wasn’t much of a contest. Braymer had 17 people listed in the program, but only 13 dressed out to play. Bryant McCord ran back three punts for touchdowns, Caleb Parman found daylight, and Worth County was well ahead by halftime, although Braymer elected to play on another quarter.
Worth County only needed 23 plays, all rushing, to score 70 points. Jeremy Wimer had 11 carries for 55 yards, Caleb Parman 3 carries for 51 yards, Alex Rinehart 4 carries for 38 yards, Nate Adwell 2 carries for 20 yards, Aydan Gladstone 2 carries for 4 yards, and Andrew Alarcon 1 carry for 15 yards. Worth County had “only” 183 total yards, but that was because of Bryant McCord’s three punt runbacks. McCord’s three punt runbacks totaled 147 yards.
For the Tigers, leading the tackling were Andrew Alarcon, Alex Rinehart, and Colton Wilmes with 7 each. Jeremy Wimer had 6, Josh Freed, Caleb Parman, Jaxon Anderson, and Justin Dye had 5 each, Reid Gabriel, Reed McIntyre, and Isaac Alarcon had 4, Nate Adwell 2, and Aydan Gladstone, Auston Pride, and Chase Atkins had 1 each.
Worth County took advantage of four Braymer turnovers. Andrew Alarcon and Aydan Gladstone had 1 pick each, while Alex Rinehart and Dawson Vore had 1 fumble recovery each. Caleb Parman kicked three kickoffs into the end zone, while Jacob New kicked two.
#2 Stanberry 46, #4 King City 28
Stanberry controlled the time of possession and the ball, running 75 plays to 49 for King City. Trey Schieber rushed 34 times for 275 yards and Rueben Gage had 18 for 57 and Cole Durbin 12 carries for 54 yards. Stanberry overcame 85 yards in penalties for the win. With the win, Stanberry continues to solidify itself in the second slot. King City drops one as Mound City continues to rise in the standings.
#3 Mound City 58, Albany 6
Albany had every reason to feel good about themselves following the first two weeks. They had won a game after winning one all of last year, and they had gone the distance against Stanberry. They held on against Mound City for a while, but then things snowballed on them, and they were down 28-0 after the first quarter. Mound City went on to take the 58-6 halftime win; Albany only ran 25 plays from scrimmage and only got 101 total yards for the night.
#5 Pattonsburg 76, #8 North Andrew 52
The two teams played evenly in three quarters, but a big third quarter from Pattonsburg, fueled by two onsides kick recoveries in the period and a pair of key stops, put them over the top. Steven Willhite overcame three picks and completed 25 of 33 passing attempts for 426 yards as the Panthers picked up 492 yards. Trevor Ireland had 10 catches for 150 yards, Cameron Jones had 6 catches for 107 yards, Patrick Cowley 5 catches for 121 yards, and Brett Emig 4 catches for 48 yards. All four had at least one catch of 30 yards or more.
Despite this loss, North Andrew is one of those teams which gets better as the season progresses. They will control the ball and wear down defenses; they had 75 plays to 43 for Pattonsburg. Jaden Baker had 29 carries for 154 yards and Logan Hughes 26 carries for 124 yards. North Andrew had 463 total yards.
Defensively, Lane Huitt had 12 tackles for Pattonsburg. Clark Adler had 10, Cameron Jones and Carter Crone 9, Brett Emig 8, Gage Sperry and Blake Hulett 7, Trevor Ireland, Patrick Cowley, and Collin Briggs 5, Gavin Garrett 4, Dillon Gannan 2, and Dakota Eaton 1.
#6 Southwest Livingston 48, DeKalb 40
Southwest Livingston remains unbeaten, but had to hold off an improving DeKalb team to do it. Mack Anderson carried the load for his squad, getting 26 carries for 291 yards and throwing for 86 more. For DeKalb, their two-headed rushing monster of Coyote Henderson and Tyler Matson kept them in the game. Henderson had 23 carries for 193 yards, and Matson had 22 carries for 170 yards. After a long drought, DeKalb is slowly climbing out of the eight man cellar.
#7 Rock Port 54, Stewartsville 32
Rock Port used a strong second quarter to take control of the game, but Stewartsville, which was decimated by Mound City the previous week, hung around for the duration of the game. Rock Port gained 318 yards on the ground and another 142 in the air to get 460 total yards. Joey Herron had 17 carries for 135 yards, Gavin Abbott 7 carries for 94 yards, and Alex Burke 8 carries for 62 yards. Burke had 7 completions in 13 attempts for 142 yards; William Oswald had 4 catches for 66 yards and Brock Martin 2 catches for 69 yards.
For Stewartsville, quarterbacks Cain Rush and Tyler Haskell completed 13 of their 37 pass attempts, but got nearly 254 total combined yards. Cole Bryant had 13 carries for 72 yards and 6 catches for 112 yards.
#9 East Atchison 62, South/Nodaway-Holt 28
The Wolves steadily pulled away and successfully invaded the Spartans. They put both phases of the game together, moving through their deep passing game as well as their triple option.
Jake McEnaney completed 12 of 15 passes for 317 yards, while Briacin Bywater rushed 21 times for 183 yards. The Wolves had 577 total yards. Gage McAdams had 4 catches for 124 yards, Bywater 4 catches for 108 yards, and Garrett Meyer 3 catches for 72 yards.
#10 Orrick – bye.
