Worth County continued to roll against Braymer, downing the Bobcats 70-6 in three quarters in a game that was moved to Graceland due to the field conditions. Braymer came into the game shorthanded; they had 17 players listed in the roster, but only 13 that were dressed out for the game. That left them completely outmatched for the third time in a row against the Stanberry-Pattonsburg-Worth County gauntlet.
Like the East Atchison game last year, Worth County had the wind at their backs and made good use of it, constantly pinning the Bobcats in bad field position and not letting them out of it. Caleb Parman’s kickoff went into the end zone and Braymer was pinned at their own 15. Braymer found some initial daylight on their first series, and a five yard run from Parker Shoe set up fourth and two at their own 23. They elected to gamble and go for it, but they ran the wrong play and Reed McIntyre blew up the play for a one yard loss and Worth County had a short field to work with. Caleb Parman ripped off gains of 12 and 9 to get into the end zone with 9:44 left and ran in the extra points to put Worth County up 8-0.
Braymer tried to establish Shoe, giving him three carries, but they came up three yards short. Faced with fourth and three at their own 22. They time, they elected to punt. But Bryant McCord took it on the bounce, walked down the tightrope along the right sideline, and shook off two tackles as he got into the end zone with 7:36 left. Caleb Parman ran in the extra points to make it 16-0.
Shoe found some initial daylight on his next carry, but ran into a big hit from Caleb Parman. He dropped a pass, and then met Colton Wilmes for a loss of one. Braymer was forced to punt, and this time, tried to kick it away from McCord. But he came up with it anyway, started on the left side, broke out to the right side, and ran through the red shirts like they weren’t even there as he took it to the house for the second time with 6:19 left. Jacob New ran in the extra points to make it 24-0 with 6:19 left.
A false start and a sack by Isaac Alarcon and Jaxon Anderson drove Braymer back, and they were forced to punt again. This time, Bryant McCord took the punt, ran up the middle, and bounced it down the right side to take it to the house for a school record third time. Caleb Parman ran through the red shirts like they weren’t even there for the extra points to make it 32-0 and Worth County pinned the Bobcats again with a kickoff into the end zone.
Braymer tried to kick it away from Bryant McCord, but shanked it out of bounds at the Bobcat 30, giving Worth County a short field to work with. They only needed one play to convert as Caleb Parman ran through the red shirts, got a block from Austin Welch, and got into the end zone with 2:12 left as Worth County finally got to run a play from scrimmage, only their third up to that point. Caleb Parman took a sweep to the right on the extra points, got blocks from Colton Wilmes and Andrew Alarcon, and scored to make it 40-0.
Braymer tried to turn to Wyatt Kincaid, but he ran into Reed McIntyre and Jaxon Anderson on one play and was driven back two on the next to set up third and 11. The Bobcats tried to pass on third down, but Andrew Alarcon jumped the route at the 30, raced down the left sideline, got a block from Bryant McCord, and took it to the house for a pick six. Jacob New scrambled into the end zone with 34.4 seconds left to make it 48-0 before Worth County started turning it over to its JV.
Braymer finally started finding some daylight against Worth County’s reserves, but then fumbled it and Alex Rinehart scooped it and ran it back to the Braymer 21. Andrew Alarcon bounced outside for 14 to the 7. Alex Rinehart was driven back two, but consecutive offsides penalties put the ball on the two yard line, and Alex Rinehart got a block from Josh Freed and took it to the house with 10:37 left. Rinehart got a burst up the middle and a block from Dylan Wilmes to make it 56-0.
Hunter Drew caught a line drive kickoff and ran it back a few yards before Alex Rinehart got a big hit on him and Justin Dye cleaned up. Braymer was in good field position at its own 31 and three carries got them to the 38. But an incomplete pass on fourth down gave the ball back to Worth County at the 38. Alex Rinehart got the edge and picked up 15 to the 23, then took a handoff up the middle. He waited for his blocker, got one, shot up the middle, and bounced outside for a 23 yard score with 7:47 left to make it 62-0.
Braymer got their lone score on their next possession, aided by a 14 yard carry by Parker Shoe and a helpful pass interference call by the officials. Worth County had Braymer stopped on fourth and eight at the Tiger 29, but an offsides and a 10 yard pass to Shoe gave Braymer new life at the 14. Finally, Shoe ripped off a 10 yard run with 5:25 left to make it 62-6 with 5:25 left.
Worth County’s JV was forced to punt on its next possession, but Braymer tried to air it out on their next possession and Aydan Gladstone picked it off and ran it back to the Braymer 15 right before the half.
Braymer elected to play another quarter, and Andrew Alarcon got a good runback of the opening kickoff, taking it back to the Braymer 30. Nate Adwell ripped off carries of 9 and 11 and Jeremy Wimer got a couple of turns at carrying the ball, picking up carries of 7 and 2 to the Braymer 1. Aydan Gladstone muscled his way into the end zone and Jeremy Wimer ran in the extra points to make it 70-6 with 8:47 left.
Braymer was moving the ball again, and Parker Shoe got a 21-yard gain to the Bobcat 35. But then Dawson Vore recovered a fumble, and Worth County was driving again before time expired in the third quarter.
