The Worth County R-III High School students have selected this year’s royal court for Homecoming 2018: Sounds of a Tiger Victory!  The high school students will choose their Homecoming King and Queen on September 19, with the official announcement following the homecoming parade on September 21 on the Matteson Field (weather permitting) at the high school.

Representing the Freshmen (Class of 2022) are Justina Wimer, the daughter of Kevin and Lori Wimer of Grant City, and Alex Rinehart, son of Stephanie Parman and Jason Rinehart of Allendale.  The Sophomores (Class of 2021) has selected Keelin Engel, daughter of Jay and DJ Engel of Denver, and Tim Richardson, son of Peggy and Larry Richardson of Albany. Merrideth Spiers, daughter of Jim and Merry Spiers, and Gabe Latham, son of Kandi Latham of Grant City will represent the Juniors (Class of 2020).

The Seniors (Class of 2019) selected the following Queen candidates: Jessi Badell, daughter of Barb Badell of Grant City; Kennedy Galanakis, daughter of Dino and Kera Galanakis of Grant City; and, Haley Hunt, daughter of Craig and Sheila Hunt of Grant City.  They also selected the following King candidates: Bryant McCord, son of Sydney McCord and Jinney Fletchall of Grant City; Jacob New, son of Les and Rebecca New of Sheridan; and, Caleb Parman, son of Stephanie and Josh Parman of Hatfield.

“We hope that the community will follow us back to the football stadium for the coronation,” said Merrideth Speirs, Student Council Vice-President and chairperson of this year’s homecoming coronation.  “We have confirmed the attendance of our past homecoming queens, Jessica Groce (25 years ago) and Teresa Stephenson Zellmer (50 years ago), who will also assist in crowning this year’s King and Queen,” Spiers said.

The East parking lot will be available for community parking. If weather precludes using the football stadium, coronation will be held in the high school gym.

“It’s not too late for businesses interested in sponsoring the homecoming parade. The cost is $50.00. We also have a business window decorating competition,” said Josh Freed, Student Council Treasurer and Business Window Decorating Chairperson.

More information about the Business Window Competition, Parade Sponsorship, and Community Floats is available by contacting the school.
