Muskets Show Improvement, Still Fall to Platte Valley

The North/West Nodaway Muskets showed some improvement over the first two games of the season but fell 40-30 to Platte Valley Friday. Trailing 20-14 at the break, they scored in the third quarter to take a 22-20 lead. But it all fell apart in the fourth quarter as Platte Valley used a 20-8 fourth to take the win.

The Muskets inserted Dylan Carden at quarterback for much of the game, although Karson Oberhauser still handled some of the quarterbacking duties. Carden had 16 completions in 31 attempts for 94 yards. Oberhauser had 3 completions in 6 attempts for 57 yards.

Carden had 22 rushes for 127 yards. Oberhauser had 7 carries for 21 yards, Parker Ogle had 6 carries for 18 yards, and Jordan Jenkins had 4 carries for 7 yards.

Tyler Bix had 6 catches for 71 yards, while Oberhauser had 4 catches for 37 yards and Dalton Smyser had 1 catch for 11 yards. Dylan Carden had 1 catch for 8 yards, while Alex Roderick had 1 catch for 3 yards.

Parker Ogle led the team in tackles with 14. Will Cordell had 11, Karson Oberhauser and Tyler Bix had 9, Alex Roderick 8, Dalton Smyser and Wyatt O’Riley 6, Jordan Jenkins 5, Dylan Carden 3, and Cody Cline 2. Tyler Bix had two fumble recoveries. Bix and Ogle each forced one fumble. Alex Roderick had 1 sack.

For Platte Valley, Dalton Luke carried the load for the Longhorns, getting 24 carries for 240 yards. Pat O’Connor had 9 carries for 77 yards and Arthur Giffin had 9 carries for 49 yards.
