Courthouse News for September 5th

On August 27th at around 11:35 pm, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office responded to a male passed out or sleeping in a vehicle on Walnut Street and Webster Street in Mount Ayr. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as AJ Miller age 41 of Mount Ayr, drug paraphernalia was seen in plain view. The defendant was taken into custody and K9 Heky deployed, a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded additional drug paraphernalia. The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department says the defendant was also in possession of prescription pills. He was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Prescription Pills. He was being held on no bond until seen by a magistrate.

KNIM 95.9 Radio reported on its Facebook Page that a Maryville man, Ryen Browning of Maryville, was killed Tuesday, August 28th while fishing at the Maryville City Reservoir. There was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for part of Gentry County that afternoon, and rain, thunder, and lightning caused the cancellation of area softball games. Nodaway County was placed under a Flood Advisory.

On August 27th, the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department reported getting multiple calls about scammers claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office stating they have a warrant, and that you need to go to Walgreen’s to purchase pre-paid debit cards in order to pay your bond. No Sheriff’s Office will call you to tell you that you have a warrant; they will not direct you to Walgreen’s to purchase pre-paid debit cards. On August 27th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Billie Jo Epperson (50) of New Hampton (MO) alleging DWI and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway.

On August 27th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Heather Musser (18) of Bethany alleging Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On August 27th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Rick Clark (70) of Bethany alleging DWI.

On August 27th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Clint Thomas (33) of Cainsville alleging DWI and Unlawfully Operating Utility Vehicle on Highway.

On August 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Sean Smithey (19) of Lansing (KS) alleging Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License and Possessing Plates of Another Person.

On August 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jarod Martin (43), a homeless person living in Maryville, alleging three counts 2nd Degree Burglary, two counts Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, and one count Stealing $750 or more. All the charges listed are felonies.

On August 28th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Randy Dreher (53) of Atchison (KS) alleging Stealing.

On August 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Timothy Newton (49) of Lamoni alleging stealing.

On August 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Shaie Thomsen (18) of Eagleville alleging two counts Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

On August 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Leslie Johnson (49) of Gallatin alleging DWI (prior), Careless & Imprudent Driving Involving an Accident, and Operating a Vehicle Without Insurance.

On August 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Tanner Wilcox (19) of Parnell in Nodaway County alleging Speeding and Minor Visibly Intoxicated.

On August 31st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Mason Stiff (19) of Maryville alleging Resisting or Interfering with an Arrest for a Felony.

On the evening of August 31st, a black SUV with out of state license plates was observed parked illegally on the Grant City Square in front of Rowen Barber Shop.

Eric McLeod, 43 of Bedford, was arrested in the 600 block of Jefferson Street in Bedford by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department on August 31, 2018. He was charged with public intoxication (second offense) and disorderly conduct, and is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $1,000 cash bond.

On September 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Michelle Layton (41) of Platte City in Harrison County on two Platte County warrants for Failure to Appear for Fraud.

On September 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Timothy Baker (44) of Pattonsburg in Harrison County on a Harrison County warrant for Failure to Appear for a Seat Belt ticket.

On September 3rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Carl Johnson (40) of Avondale (MO) in Harrison County on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Speeding.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
