Austina Faye Spire, 86 of Parnell, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the University of Kansas Hospital.
Austina was born on October 9, 1931 in Elmo, Missouri to Willis E. and Alma I. (Andrews) Calfee. She was a 1949 graduate of Maryville High School. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer. Austina was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Parnell, Missouri, Nodaway County Genealogical Society and the Sixty Plus Club in Parnell.
She married James P. Spire on January 7, 1950 in Maryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1986. She was also preceded by her parents, daughter, Virginia Burns, (April 24, 2017), brother, Gary Calfee (February 27, 2010), daughter-in-law, Delores Spire and great-granddaughter, Olivia Stiens.
Survivors include, one daughter, Twyilla (Bill) Stiens, Skidmore, Missouri; four sons, Paul (Gena) Spire, Graham, North Carolina, Harold (Diana) Spire, Maryville, Missouri, Willis (Martha) Spire, Parnell, Missouri, Ronald (Pam) Spire, Parnell, Missouri; son-in-law, Terry Burns, Parnell, Missouri; sister-in-law, Gladys Calfee, Clarinda, Iowa; twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Tuesday, July 24th at St. Joseph’s Parish, Parnell, Missouri. Rosary 6 pm Monday, July 23rd at St. Joseph’s Parish. The family suggests memorials to the Curry-Richardson-Sparks-Waldeier American Legion Auxiliary.
