Courthouse News for August 1st, 2018

The Maryville Daily Forum reported in its July 19th issue that on July 11th, Marlin Meyer of Ravenwood was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections in conjunction with the fatal accident that killed Virginia Burns of Parnell on April 24th, 2017. Court retains jurisdiction and can call him back from prison after 120 days to serve five years probation. He was sentenced by Judge Corey Herron. The case was moved from Nodaway County to Atchison County on a change of venue. The Forum reported that Meyer also faces a civil suit from Jeremy Burns related to the accident.

On July 23rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Cassandra Russell (29) alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On July 23rd, Gentry County Assistant Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Quentin Nielson (21) of Guilford alleging Careless and Imprudent Driving.

On July 23rd, Gentry County Assistant Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Lanu Tuumalo (37) of Albany alleging stealing.

On July 23rd, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Robert Morrow (43) of Sheridan alleging Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

On July 23rd, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Timothy Bernard (54) of St. Joseph alleging Possession of Controlled Substance, Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Placing Excessive Vision Reducing Material on Windshield. On July 26th, Hurst filed additional charges against Bernard alleging Possession of Marijuana. A warrant was issued, and on July 27th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested him in Nodaway County.

On July 23rd, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Collins Straight (37) of Guilford alleging Driving While Revoked.

On July 23rd, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Justin Seipel (34) of Sheridan alleging Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

On July 24th, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Ciara Swenson (18) of Atchison (KS) alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On July 24th, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Dillon Denney (27) of Highlandville (MO) alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On July 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Nathan Hinkle (18) of Trenton alleging Minor Visibly Intoxicated.

On July 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Zane Wolf Rottman (17) of Trenton alleging Minor Visibly Intoxicated.

On July 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Stephen Charles Deming (29) of Ridgeway alleging Driving While Revoked (2nd or 3rd Offense) and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway.

On July 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Adam Smith (31) of Gilman City alleging DWI and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway.

On July 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Rodney Harvey (42) of Ocala (FL) alleging DWI and a miscellaneous federal motor carrier violation.

On July 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Rick Clark (70) of Bethany alleging DWI and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway.

On July 25th, Nicholas Andrew Colburn, 32 of Lorimor, IA was arrested for Domestic Abuse Assault 1st offense by the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department. The assault occurred at Kokesh park in rural Diagonal, IA. Colburn is being held in the Ringgold County Jail until seen by a magistrate.
On the morning of July 25th, a woman called the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office about a very large dead coyote in the middle of Route F. There were numerous buzzards in the road, creating a hazard for motorists. The coyote was removed.

On July 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jacob Madden (24) of Maryville alleging DWI.

On July 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Isaac Smith (25) of Stanberry alleging Operating a Vehicle Without a Valid License (3rd and Subsequent Offense).

On July 26th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jenna Ebers (26) of St. Joseph alleging two counts of stealing.

On July 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Brandon Kitchen (25) of St. Joseph in Nodaway County for Driving While Suspended, Speeding, and No Insurance.

On July 26th, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against Krista Knight (29) of Gentry alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On July 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Cory Farrell (19) of Grant City in Worth County for Failure to Display Valid Plates and Driving While Revoked.

On July 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested two Dallas (TX) women, Emily McDonald (23) and Janna McDonald (27) in Harrison County on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, Janna McDonald was charged with Speeding.

On July 26th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Heather Lynne Gray (28) of Las Vegas alleging Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Speeding.

On July 27th, Gentry County Prosecutor David B. Parman filed charges against Shonne Moad (28) of Albany alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 1st Degree Burglary.

On July 27th, Gentry County Prosecutor David B. Parman filed charges against Denton Beck (18) of Albany alleging 1st Degree Burglary.

On July 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jason Bernal (31) of Maryville alleging Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior Drug Offense).

On July 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Chris Ferrare (41) of Maryville alleging Driving While Revoked.

On July 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Scott Johnson (45) of Maryville alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving Involving an Accident and Possession of Marijuana.

On July 27th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jonathan Wittig (32) of Appleton (WI) in Harrison County on charges of No Valid Driver’s License and Speeding.

On July 28th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Melanie Gee (39) of Conception Junction alleging two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, DWI, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On July 28th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Lincoln Pope (17) of Maryville alleging Class E Felony Animal Abuse. A Class E Felony is filed in such cases when it is either a 2nd or subsequent offense or the animal was tortured and/or mutilated while it was still alive.

On July 28th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Quentin Duley (18) of Stanberry in Nodaway County on charges of DWI, Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway, and Minor in Possession.

On July 28th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jacob Thomsen (27) of Denison (IA) in Nodaway County on charges of Failure to Appear on a Daviess County Warrant involving charges of DWI, Speeding 26 mph or more, and No Driver’s License. Thomsen was also charged with Speeding and Driving While Suspended.

On July 28th in the evening, a Maloy (IA) woman reported on Facebook that while their grandmother was watching them playing in their yard, a white Ford pickup drove up and asked her kids if they had a corkscrew. The kids ran into the house and locked the doors and the vehicle drove off. There was one male driver in his 40’s or 50’s, a younger male in his 20’s, and two women. The Maloy woman stated that there was a similar incident in Winterset (IA).

On July 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Justin Nemec (57) of Roanoke (TX) in Harrison County on charges of No Valid License and Speeding. He was taken to the Harrison County Jail, where he was held on bond.

On July 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Joshua Downs (26) of Buffalo (KS) in Harrison County on charges of No Valid License. He was taken to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, where he was held on bond.

On July 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Cristine Stallings filed charges against Brian Selby (21) of Ridgeway alleging 1st Degree Sexual Misconduct.

On July 30th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Danny Goings (20) of Maryville alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving Involving an Accident, Leaving the Scene, and DWI.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
