Courthouse News for July 4th, 2018

On June 17th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Julie Forney (39) of Hopkins alleging 1st Degree Burglary, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, and Interference with Custody. The Maryville Daily Forum reported that she had allegedly took her two children, who she did not have custodial rights to, from their babysitter’s residence in Pickering. She has pleaded not guilty and is being represented by James Rynard of Maryville.

John Stephenson (61) of Sheridan pleaded guilty to a Class D Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Nodaway County. Following a Sentencing Assessment Report, he was given a Suspended Imposition of Sentence and 5 years supervised probation by Circuit Judge Roger Prokes on June 25th. He will be supervised by the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole.

On June 25th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Dalton Hutchison (20) of Grand River (IA) on charges of Driving While Suspended and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On June 27th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Nathan Daniel Ford (35) of Diagonal on a child support warrant.

On June 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Ty Poe (27) of Stanberry in Nodaway County on charges of Failure to Display Plates and Operating a Vehicle Without a Valid License.

On June 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested William Diamond (42) of Maryville on charges of Speeding and Operating a Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License (3rd Offense).

On June 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Josh Inman (33) of Farragut (IA) in Nodaway County on charges of DWI and Speeding.

On June 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Sheila Ash (43) of Bethany in Harrison County on charges of DWI (Persistent Offender) and Failure to Drive on the Right Half of Roadway.

On June 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Kyler Sewell (20) of Chillicothe in Harrison County on charges of Failure to Properly Affix Plate and Minor Visibly Intoxicated.

On June 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Cameron Smith (35) of Maryville in Nodaway County on charges of Driving While Suspended (2nd Offense) and Speeding.

On June 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Timothy Bernard (53) of St. Joseph in Worth County on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Window Tint, Failure to Drive on the Right Half of Roadway, and No Insurance.

On July 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Christine Patrick (25) of Pattonsburg in Gentry County on a misdemeanor Gentry County warrant for Failure to Register.

Samantha Gile-Smith, 27 of Creston, Iowa, was arrested in the 300 block of West Van Buren Street in Lenox on June 30, 2018 by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department. Gile-Smith was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine), a Class C Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Marijuana), a Class D Felony, and Possession of an Open Container as a Driver. She is being held at the Taylor County Jail on no bond until seen by a Magistrate.

On July 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Mariama Barry (23) of Inglewood (CA) in Harrison County on charges of No Valid Driver’s License and Speeding. She was taken to the Harrison County Law Enforcement Center where she was being held on bond.

On July 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Steven Hobbs (63) on a Felony Out of State Warrant from Royal Oak (MI) for Failure to Return Rented Property in Nodaway County. The value was allegedly between $1,000 and $25,000. He was denied bond.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
