Drew Welch Wins at Nodaway County Fair

The July 19th Maryville Daily Forum reported that Drew Welch won at the 4-H/FFA Livestock Show at the Nodaway County Fair with his Duroc Pig, “Peppa Pig.” Drew and his brother, Tate, subsequently won ribbons at the Worth County Livestock Show. They plan to show again at the Missouri State Fair in August; Seth and Dreven Brown also plan to go to the State Fair to show their goats; Keelin and Eva Engel will show their animals as well. Drew and Tate are the sons of Andy and Kim Welch of Sheridan.

In other results at the Nodaway County Livestock Show, Tate Welch won Supreme Champion Breeding Gilt, Reserve Supreme Breeding Gilt, and Grand Champion Market Barrow. He also won Senior Swine Showmanship. Keelin Engel was Champion Gilt in her division, while Eva Engel was Reserve Champion.

In the Sheep Division, Baylie Busby was named Dorset Breed Champion. Dakota Auffert won Southdown Breed Champion. Kristin Herndon won Commercial Breed Champion Ewe and Overall Champion.

In the Rabbit Division, Madelynn Mattson was Grand Champion Pen of 3 Rabbits, while Dalanie Auffert was Reserve Champion and Junior Showmanship.

Among 4-H exhibitors that qualified for state competition at the State Fair, Dalanie Auffert qualified for Clothes You Buy, Mom and Baby Otters, African Violet, Flannel Dress Outfit, and "Daddy" photo. Baylie Busby's "Flying with Friends" photo qualified.
