On January 22, 1972, he married Brenda Roberta Patterson. They were blessed with three daughters: Thea Jean, Tisha Ann, and Tara Beth.
Max graduated from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1967. He began working for LMP in Maryville in 1971. In the fall of 2015, after 44 years, he retired from Nucor-LMP.
Left to cherish Max’s memory is his wife, Brenda, of the home in rural Maryville; daughter Thea (Mich) Hanway of Maitland; daughter Tisha (Troy) Moore of Fairfax; and daughter Tara (Troy) Yardley of Grain Valley. Grandchildren: Ariannah, Anderson, Alexander, and Alyssabeth Roderick; Brett Pointer, Bryan Halterman; Zachary and Zoey Moore; and Kadence and Mason Yardley. There are four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Sally (Paul) Beezley, Washington, Iowa; and Ivalee Johnson, Sheridan; his brother Oakly (Patricia) Risser, Vacavilla (CA); Brenda’s mother, Roberta Patterson; sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Max worked hard and played hard. He had a kind heart, twinkle in his eye, and a charitable soul. Max never met anyone he did not call a friend. He was a family man above all else. We were blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Max, as well as cherished heartfelt memories.
On Monday, April 17, 2017, Max started his new beginning, a reunion of sorts, with loved ones lost in the past. Until we meet again, you will forever be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Friday, May 5, at the Mozingo Lake Golf Club House near Maryville.
