The Worth County Convalescent Center has become a 5-star facility as ranked by US News & World Report. They rank over 15,000 homes around the country. In Northwest Missouri, there are 124 facilities, of which 12 received the 5 star rating. Mound City and King City also received the highest rankings. Around 15% of nursing homes around Missouri received 5 star ratings. Health inspections, nurse staffing, and quality of care was used to determine ratings.
The data behind Best Nursing Homes come from Nursing Home Compare, a website run by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. CMS sets and enforces standards for nursing homes enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid, as most are. The agency also collects information from states and individual homes and assigns each home (other than a few too new to have built up enough months of data) a rating of one to five stars in each of three categories: state-conducted health inspections, nursing and physical therapy staffing, and quality of medical care. The ratings are combined to produce an overall rating of one to five stars.
The ratings do not include assisted living facilities or retirement homes, which do not accept Medicare or Medicaid. The 5 star rating was derived from data compiled over the last three years. Administrator Karen Fletchall said that she was proud of the staff and employees and that the goal of the nursing home was to keep moving forward.
