Speeding Through Town Discussed at Sheridan City Council

Speeding through town was discussed at the Sheridan City Council Meeting Tuesday evening. Drivers have been going through town at a high rate of speed, especially between 5:30 am and 6 am, which council members say poses a danger to kids. Other problems discussed include underage kids speeding through town in four wheelers. The speed limit through town is 25 mph; it was lowered several years ago.

Three water customers were delinquent.

The sand volleyball pit at the park was cleaned out and the city has received a donation of sand to replace it. It will be put in before Old Defiance Days. Ditches will be sprayed as well as the area around the volleyball court.

The city will need to remove some more limbs from trees in the park sometime this year. They have died and are ready to fall.

Councilwoman Mary Jo Riley reported that some area towns have turned down COVID relief money, citing too much paperwork and difficulty accessing.

City water rates will be going up so the city can continue to cover bond repayments for the water system.
