The Worth County Tigers won the Junior High Early Bird last Monday, March 30th for both the boys and the girls. On the boys side, the Tigers won a crowded field with 65.81 points. Platte Valley had 57, followed by Albany with 41.62, North Andrew with 38.81, NEN with 38.62, West Nodaway with 33.81, Princeton with 33, North Nodaway with 30.81, North Harrison with 30.81, South Harrison with 24.62, Stanberry with 23.62, East Harrison with 15.81, Tri-County with 11.81, King City with 8, Gilman City with 2, and Pattonsburg with 0.81. Only 18 points separated the third place through 11th place teams.
The girls had a much easier time of it, but the rest of the field was just as crowded, with five teams getting 43 points or more and nine teams getting 20 or more points. Worth County had 83, South Harrison 50, West Nodaway 44, Princeton and East Harrison 43, Platte Valley 36, Gilman City 30, Northeast Nodaway 25, King City 20, North Andrew and Pattonsburg 18, Stanberry 15, Albany 12, and North Harrison 8.
For the girls, Emma Spencer was fifth in the 100 with a time of 14.61. She was also fifth in the 200 with a time of 32.75. Brylea Paxson was second in the 800 with a time of 3:09.05. Abbi Brown was second in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 21.31, while Eva Engel was fourth with a time of 21.63. In the 100 Hurdles, nine tenths of a second separated the first through seventh place finishers in a crowded field.
The 4x100 team of Eva Engel, Abbi Brown, Katie Fletchall, and Emma Spencer was fourth with a time of 1:01.60. The 4x200 team of Eva Engel, Riley Ridge, Rayleigh Smith, and Katie Fletchall was sixth with a time of 2:15.75. The 4x400 team of Bridgette Hightshoe, Riley Ridge, Rylee Ruckman, and Brylea Paxson was second with a time of 5:35.30.
In the field events, Bridgette Hightshoe won the Pole Vault with a vault of 1.85 meters. Emma Spencer was second in the Long Jump with a leap of 3.66 meters; Rayleigh Smith was fifth with a jump of 3.56 meters. In the Triple Jump, Riley Ridge was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.34 meters, while Abbi Brown was fourth with a jump of 8.30 meters. Abbi Brown won the Shot Put with a throw of 9.05 meters. Rylee Ruckman was third in the Discus with a throw of 18.11 meters.
On the boys side, Franklynn Taute won the 100 with a time of 12.96. Taute was also second in the 200 with a time of 27.46. Cannon Fletcher won the 800 with a time of 2:35.12.
The 4x100 team of Franklynn Taute, Brayden Stephens, Brayden Murphy, and Carter Chapman was fourth with a time of 55.91. The 4x400 team of Cannon Fletcher, Wyatt Hill, Sawyer Thurman, and Brayden Combs won with a time of 5:06.
A host of 16 people tied for third in the High Jump with a leap of 1.5 meters, including Keaton Morin of Worth County, which accounted for all the team scores having decimals on them in the boys side.
The Tigers were 1-2 in the Pole Vault, with Brayden Stephens winning with a vault of 2.15 meters and Brayden Combs second with a vault of 2 meters. Brayden Stephens was fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.11 meters. Carter Chapman was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.61 meters, while Keaton Morin was sixth with a jump of 8.35.
Northeast Nodaway
For the girls, Mylee Wilmes was sixth in the 100 with a time of 14.71. Baylie Busby was second in the 400 with a time of 1:15.76. Sasha Deardorff was fifth in the 800 with a time of 3:26.45. The 4x400 team of Sasha Deardorff, Skyler Florea, Mylee Wilmes, and Baylie Busby won with a time of 5:34.10. Baylie Busby was fourth in the High Jump with a jump of 1.35 meters.
For the boys, Landon Wilmes was third in the 400 with a time of 1:09.33. Drew Dack was fifth in the 1600 with a time of 6:04.84. Drew Dack was second in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 20.43, while Gaige Bodle was third with a time of 20.51.
The 4x400 relay team of Landon Wilmes, Gaige Bodle, Drew Dack, and Jacob Meyer was second with a time of 5:12.80.
Included in the 16-player logjam in the High Jump tied for third were Landon Wilmes and Gaige Bodle, with jumps of 1.5 meters. Jake Redden was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9 meters. Redden was third in the Discus with a throw of 23.83.
North Nodaway
For the boys, Mason Casner was third in the 200 with a time of 27.82. Owen Martin was fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:51.78. Mason Casner won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.48.
In the High Jump, Owen Martin was part of the 16 player logjam tied for third with a jump of 1.5 meters. Mason Casner was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.14 meters. Owen Martin was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.49 meters.
North Harrison
For the girls, Stella Roberson was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.63 meters.
For the boys, Evan Schreiber was fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:10.14. Kolton Graham won the High Jump with a jump of 1.55 meters, while Evan Schreiber was part of the 16 player logjam tied for third place with a jump of 1.5 meters. Owen Roberson was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.4 meters. Roberson was also second in the Discus with a throw of 24.76.
