Worth County’s boys got their first track win of the year, edging out Stanberry, while the girls were edged out by Platte Valley, but finished a strong second Thursday at King City.
The boys won with 136 points to 130 for Stanberry. King City had 94, Osborn/Stewartsville 78, Platte Valley 60, Albany 60, Union Star 54, and North Andrew 22.
For the girls, Platte Valley had 138, Worth County 117, Stanberry 88, Albany 66, King City 52, North Andrew 51, Osborn/Stewartsville 46, and Union Star 38.
For the girls, Rebecca Smith was sixth in the 100 with a time of 14.45. Hailey Adwell was second in the 400 with a time of 1:09.07 while Autumn Cousatte was third with a time of 1:16.38. Morgan Beagle won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 17.68. Brooklyn Richardson was third with a time of 18.66.
The 4x100 team of Rebecca Smith, Brooklyn Richardson, Hailey Adwell, and Morgan Beagle was third with a time of 54.85. The 4x200 team was fourth with a time of 2:04.76. The 4x400 team of Morgan Beagle, Braidy Hunt, Brooklyn Richardson, and Hailey Adwell won with a time of 4:35.81. The 4x800 team of Hailey Adwell, Autumn Cousatte, Braidy Hunt, and Justina Wimer won with a time of 12:15.71.
Keelin Engel won the Pole Vault with a vault of 3.05 meters. Brooklyn Richardson was third with a height of 2 meters. Morgan Beagle was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.49 meters. Braidy Hunt was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.61 meters. Justina Wimer was eighth with a jump of 8.64 meters.
Kara-Jean Staton was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.93 meters. Keelin Engel was eighth with a throw of 8.60 meters. Kara-Jean Staton got her second win of the year in the Discus with a throw of 28.40 meters. Taylor Sanders was fifth with a throw of 22.98 meters. Ali Brown was fourth in the Javelin with a throw of 25.95 meters.
For the boys, Brent Harris was fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.62. Braxton Hightshoe was sixth with a time of 12.95. Timothy Richardson was seventh in the 200 with a time of 27.52. Levi Cassavaugh won the 400 with a time of 59.27. Braxton Hightshoe was sixth with a time of 1:04.49. Tyler New was sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:31.87.
Worth County was 1-2 in both their hurdle events. In the 110 Hurdles, Jace Cousatte won with a time of 17.32, while Aydan Gladstone was right behind at 17.53. In the 300 Hurdles, Aydan Gladstone won with a time of 44.15, while Cousatte was edged out by 1/100 of a second with a time of 44.16.
The 4x100 team of John Galanakis, Brent Harris, Levi Cassavaugh, and Braxton Hightshoe was third with a time of 48.53. The 4x200 team of Aydan Gladstone, Nate Adwell, Levi Cassavaugh, and Braxton Hightshoe won with a time of 1:37.49. The 4x400 team of Nate Adwell, Brent Harris, John Galanakis, and Levi Cassavaugh was second with a time of 3:56.68.
In the High Jump, John Galanakis was second with a jump of 1.7 meters. Braxton Hightshoe was seventh with a jump of 1.55 meters. Tyler New won the Pole Vault with a vault of 2.58 meters. In the Long Jump, Timothy Richardson was sixth with a jump of 5.07 meters. Brent Harris was eighth with a jump of 4.91 meters. Jace Cousatte was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.09 meters. Tyler New was fifth with a jump of 10.44.
Jackson Runde was third in the Discus with a throw of 37.04 meters. Tyler New was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 31.10 meters. John Galanakis was sixth with a throw of 30.70 meters.
