Four people were injured in a teen wreck near Bethany Friday afternoon, three seriously; one person was lifeflighted afterwards. Subsequently, a drug arrest was made afterwards.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Jacob Maize (18) of Bethany was eastbound on US 136 three miles west of Bethany near 69 and a 2018 Chevy 2500 driven by Leroy Gooding (80) of Albany was westbound. The Beetle struck the Chevy head-on. Maize was seriously injured in the wreck and taken to Harrison County Community Hospital and two other teens in the Beetle were also seriously injured; one was lifeflighted to Children’s Mercy Hospital and the other was taken to Harrison County Hospital. Gooding received moderate injuries and was taken to Harrison County Community Hospital.
Following the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Maize on charges of DWI (Drugs with Serious Physical Injury, Felony) and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).
