Phillip King was born on September 1, 1947 in Maryville, Missouri to Edwin and Luetta Lorraine (Cavin) King. He passed away on April 29, 2020 at the age of 72.
Phillip grew up on a farm outside of Blockton, Iowa. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1965.
Phillip Served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Vietnam from 1968-1969. In 1970 Phillip got married and was blessed with 2 daughters. That same year Phillip started working for Chicago Northwestern Railroad which was later known as Union Pacific Railroad. He worked as a railroad foreman until his retirement.
Phillip loved to go hiking in Colorado. Most people hike mountains from bottom to top but not Phillip, he hiked from the top to the bottom of Mt. Evans. He also loved to do photography in his spare time.
Phillip married Merna Padilla in 2005. They moved to Bedford in 2007 where he resided until his death.
Preceding Phillip in death were his wife, Merna; parents: Edwin and Lorraine; and brother, Dan King.
Step children: Cynthia (Talu) Leota of Port Orchard, Washington and Charles (Cara) Schwake of Hampton, Iowa; 2 grandchildren: Benjamin and Catherine and 6 step-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Anthony, Gracie, Noah, Isaac, and Symon.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Inurnment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Blockton, Iowa.
