Open House Celebrated at Pickering School

The North Nodaway PTO held their annual Open House last Tuesday night, with over 50 families attending to pick up free school supplies. The North Nodaway PTO supplies free school supplies for around 98% of the students attending the Pickering Elementary School.

This year, the PTO helped landscape the front of the Pickering school. They put in new rock, bushes, flowers, edging, and decorated the front windows. A spaghetti supper from last winter helped fund the project, and they hired someone to tear out the old flowers and plant the new plants. PTO members also stepped in and did volunteer labor.

While the average is around 85, this year, attendance at Pickering, which serves K-5, is expected to  be around 105. In addition, around 20 students are expected to attend the preschool.
