Worth County’s boys ran away with the Rock Port meet Tuesday, while the girls finished a close second to Stanberry.
For the girls, having Rock Port in the mix changed the field around from their first meet at the Early Bird. Platte Valley was also in the mix; they were not at the Early Bird in Worth County. Also, the girls were missing two athletes. Merrideth Spiers and Kennedy Galanakis were at the FBLA State Leadership Conference, which was held the same day as the Rock Port meet. Stanberry won with 93 points, followed by Worth County with 92, Mound City with 89, Rock Port with 79, Platte Valley 72, East Atchison 50, St. Joseph Christian 49, Albany 24, NEN 16, South/Nodaway-Holt 13, North/West Nodaway 10, and Stewartsville 1.
For the boys, Worth County ran away with 130 points. Mound City had 99, East Atchison 82, South/Nodaway-Holt 70, Stanberry 48, Rock Port 36, NEN 35, St. Joseph Christian 25, Platte Valley 25, Albany 19, Stewartsville 15, and North/West Nodaway 4.
Liz Lyle got a personal best with 14.01 to qualify in the 100 and finished fifth with a time of 14.47.
Megan Cassavaugh was sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:09.51.
Braidy Hunt had a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:43.98, knocking 1.4 seconds off her time. That was good enough for fourth.
Anna Gladstone beat out a tough field in the 100 Hurdles to win with a time of 17.11. The top five finishers were within a second of her; Mikayla Mattson (Platte Valley) had 17.82, Liz Lyle (Worth County) had 18.05, Allyah Smith (Christian) had 18.09, and Paige West (NEN) ran an 18.10.
Gladstone knocked almost three seconds off her 300 Hurdles time at the Early Bird and got a personal best with a second place finish of 50.51. That was another close race; Kristin Herndon (North/West Nodaway) was third with 50.68. Morgan Beagle knocked over three seconds off her time and finished fifth with a time of 53.91.
The 4x100 team of Navada Hoff, Regan Allee, Jessi Badell, and Morgan Beagle was fifth with a time of 58.52. The 4x200 team of Jessi Badell, Regan Allee, Jenna Smith, and Keelin Engel was sixth with a time of 2:05.72. The 4x400 team of Kristin New, Megan Cassavaugh, Braidy Hunt, and Allison Larison was sixth with a time of 4:52.85, knocking 2.4 seconds off their time. The 4x800 team of Megan Cassavaugh, Braidy Hunt, Allison Larison, and Kristin New was third with a time of 11:29.84, knocking almost 21 seconds off their time.
In the field events, Anna Gladstone set a season high by placing third in the High Jump with a height of 5 feet. That was four inches better than at the Early Bird.
Worth County finished 1-2 in the Pole Vault as Regan Allee won with a height of 8’6”, and Jessi Badell was second with a personal best of 8’1”.
Anna Gladstone got her second first place finish of the day by setting a season high in the Long Jump with a jump of 16’7”. Liz Lyle was fourth with a jump of 15’7¼”.
Liz Lyle set a personal best in the Triple Jump with a leap of 31’7¾”. Braidy Hunt was sixth with a jump of 29’4½”.
Kaylee McElvain was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 91’4”.
On the boys side, Worth County placed two in the 100. Bryant McCord was third with a time of 11.85, while Andrew Alarcon was fourth with a time of 11.94. Daniel Craven knocked almost 29 seconds off his 3200 time and finished third with a time of 11:53.37. Bryant McCord won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.85, knocking almost a second off his time. Jaxon Anderson knocked .9 of a second off his 300 Hurdles time with a time of 47.34.
For the relay teams, the 4x100 team of Tevin Cameron, Caleb Parman, Ryan McClellan, and Bryant McCord won with a time of 46.65, knocking almost a second off their time. The 4x200 team of Tevin Cameron, Wayde Parman, Ryan McClellan, and Andrew Alarcon was second with a time of 1:40.85. The 4x400 team of Andrew Alarcon, Nate Adwell, Wayde Parman, and Jaxon Anderson was third with a time of 4:03.86. The 4x800 team knocked over a minute off their time and finished fifth with a time of 10:13.89.
Caleb Parman got a personal best in the High Jump and finished fourth with a jump of 5’6”. Nate Adwell was third in the Pole Vault with a season best of 10’6”. The Tigers placed two in the Long Jump as Caleb Parman won with a jump of 18’10½”. Tevin Cameron was third with a jump of 18’2”. Jaxon Anderson soared to victory in the Triple Jump, increasing his personal best time by over three feet and getting a jump of 40’¼”. Caleb Parman was fourth with a jump of 37’8¾”.
The Tigers won two out of the three throwing events. Drake Kinsella won the Shot Put with a throw of 42’11”, while Mason Hawk was third with a personal best throw of 42’1¾”. Mason Hawk, who excelled in the Discus and took off last year in Rock Port, upped his season best to 124’9” and won. Drake Kinsella also raised his throw and finished fourth with a throw of 118’11”. Jacob New was third in the Javelin with a throw of 128’10”.
