Two Bluejays both hit their first career home runs for NEN and Vance Proffitt’s squad did nothing to hurt their run at a fifth straight conference title, beating West Nodaway 12-2 Thursday in Ravenwood.
Cameron Staples started off pitching for NEN, getting off to a rocky start as Cody Gaylan hit a two run home run in the top of the first, putting West Nodaway up 2-0. NEN got a run in the bottom of the first to cut it in half and Staples settled down, pitching a scoreless second and third before giving way to Spencer Weir.
Northeast finally erased their deficit in the fourth as Spencer Gray hit his first career home run as a Bluejay, putting NEN up 3-2. Finally, the floodgates opened in the fifth as Northeast batted around and Cameron Staples ended it with a grand slam to trigger the 10 run rule.
