An attempted theft/mugging occurred in Eagleville. A woman who was traveling through on I-35 reported on Facebook that she stopped at Love’s Truck Stop in Eagleville Tuesday night, March 27th. While there, she was followed into the store by one man as she went into the store, used the restroom, and came out again. As she pulled out of the truck stop, she saw another man coming across the street towards her.
Recently, the sign on Farwell Street in Grant City near Fletchall Pipe & Steel was defaced with spray paint.
On Monday, March 26th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ricky Jay Hinds (61) of Grand River (IA) on charges of Driving While Suspended, No Insurance, and No Registration. He was then transported to Clarke County (IA) on a warrant for Failure to Appear.
On Tuesday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Amanda Morriss (36) of Spencer (IA) in Nodaway County on charges of Failure to Drive on the Right Half of the Roadway, Speeding 105 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone, No Seat Belt, Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, Failure to Stop, Careless & Imprudent Driving Involving an Accident, DWI, and Driving While Suspended. According to KMA, these charges were filed following an accident that afternoon at the junction of VV and AH one mile west of Conception after she had failed to negotiate a right hand turn on VV and went off the roadway.
On March 27th, a Mount Ayr woman reported to the Ringgold County Sheriff that someone had entered her house at 504 East Jefferson in Mount Ayr between 6:00 and 8:30 pm that night and stole a 20 volt dewalt rechargeable drill and Electrolux small vacuum.
On Thursday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Lorna Murphy (32) of Maryville in Nodaway County on charges of Driving While Suspended (1st offense), Speeding (11-15 miles per hour over), No Seat Belt, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
On Thursday, March 29th, James Meek, 54, of Blockton was arrested in the 2900 block of 320th Street near Blockton on March 29, 2018 by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with Willful Injury, Causing Bodily Injury, and Violation of a No Contact Order, and is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol did two drug busts in Harrison County on Friday, March 30th. In the first, the Patrol arrested Leopoldo Guzman (25) of Wichita (KS), Jesus Fabela Mendoza (20) of Odessa (TX), and Mariano Castillo (23) of Wichita (KS) on charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana (11-35 grams). The Patrol also charged Guzman with Speeding.
In the second, the Patrol arrested Lawrence Poush (55) of Chariton (IA) on a change of Possession of Marijuana (10 grams or less). He is being charged as a prior offender.
On March 30th, the Patrol arrested Alexander Teeling (29) of Kansas City in Harrison County on charges of Speeding and No Valid Operator’s License.
On March 31st, the Patrol arrested Levi Murphy (18) of King City in Gentry County on a charge of DWI.
On March 31st, the Patrol arrested Rumeal Coakley (25) of Albany in Gentry County on charges of Careless & Imprudent Driving, No Valid License, No Insurance, and Persistent DWI.
On March 31st, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department made three arrests. The Patrol arrested Alan Gray (43) of Villisca (IA) on charges of Driving While Suspended. He was brought before a magistrate, pleaded guilty, and was released. Bruce Fitzwater (55) of Gravity (IA) was arrested with Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. He is being held in Taylor County with a $25,000 cash bond. The Patrol also arrested Tamara McCoy (39) of Villisca for Open Container and Littering.
On March 31st, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department stopped Ronald Frank Dollar (60) of Manson (IA) for speeding on Highway 169. A K-9 was deployed and gave an alert. The Sheriff’s Department says a subsequent search revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He has been charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Monday, April 2nd, the Patrol arrested Offin Kwaku (29) of Dallas (TX) in Harrison County on charges of Speeding by 26+ Miles Per Hour.
The above charges are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
Shana Land twice failed to appear on charges of Stealing, No Insurance, and Speeding. A warrant was issued for $435.50, cash only.
Prosecutor Brett Hurst dismissed charges of Stealing, Trespassing, and Tampering against Ashley Pickering in open court Monday as the defendant has made restitution.
Terry Stammer (54) of Spirit Lake (IA) pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of Defective Equipment. He will serve 24 hours in the Nodaway County Jail with credit for 12 hours served. He will pay $189.50 in court costs and jail keep.
Charges listed are merely allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
