On Tuesday, March 31st, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department received information that an assault had occurred in Ellston (IA). A search warrant was obtained. A traffic stop was conducted and three people were arrested. Rickey Leroy Lucia (51) of Ellston (IA) was charged with Robbery (1st Degree), Kidnapping (2nd Degree), Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver, Willful Injury, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Clinton White (40) of Afton (IA) was charged with Robbery (1st Degree), Kidnapping (2nd Degree), Willful Injury, Driving While Revoked, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both defendants have a $100,000 cash bond. A third man, Galen White (64) of Clearfield, was arrested and handed over to Taylor County on their warrant.
The Nodaway News-Leader reported in its April 5th issue that a part-time Hopkins resident told Mayor Kelly Morrison that someone had broken into his house. Morrison reported it at the regular Hopkins City Council Meeting on April 2nd.
On Tuesday, April 3rd, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Kevin Lee Ray (28) of Delphos on a Ringgold County warrant for Contempt of Court. He was taken to the Ringgold County Jail on a $1,748 bond.
On Wednesday, April 4th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Michael Fondell (30) of Mount Ayr on a charge of Domestic Abuse. Bond was set at $300, cash only.
On April 4th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Ronald Angle (49) of Denver for DWI (Prior Offender).
On April 4th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Mitchell Ryan Clymer (30) of Blockton on charges of DWI (2nd Offense) following a traffic stop in Mount Ayr. He was taken to the Ringgold County Jail and held on a $2,000 bond.
On April 4th, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department arrested Bryan Adam Garcia (23) of Lenox on a Probation Violation Warrant and was taken to the Taylor County Jail on no bond.
On April 5th, Amanda Kanak (37) of Grant City was bound over to Division I on a charge of DWI (Persistent Offender). Judge Joel Miller had previously disqualified himself from the case and Judge Ed Manring was assigned. Prosecutor Brett Hurst disqualified himself from the case, and Special Prosecutor David Baird was appointed. She was initially charged on October 24th, 2017.
On April 5th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office arrested Benjamin Keith Peacock (22) of Leon (IA) on a charge of Failure to Appear on a Driving While Suspended charge. He was taken to the Ringgold County Jail on a $300 cash only bond.
On April 6th, Worth County Prosecutor Brett Hurst filed charges against James L. Meek (54) of Blockton for one count of Felony Driving While Revoked/Suspended and two counts of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On April 6th, Hurst filed charges against Samantha Giles Smith of Creston alleging one count of Passing a Bad Check.
On April 7th, Lynette Berg, who is in charge of the new community bulletin board in Hopkins located by City Hall, posted on Facebook that someone was taking out papers from the board.
On April 7th, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department arrested William Ray Webb (32) of Clearfield on a charge of DWI.
On April 8th, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department arrested Ismael Cortes (18) of Lenox on a charge of DWI.
On April 8th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office arrested Adison Andrew Clark (23) of Osceola (IA) on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense) following a traffic stop.
On April 9th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Frank Occhipinto (21) of Smithville on a charge of Possession of Marijuana.
