Cade and Regan Allee were named News-Press Players of the Week Friday. Cade scored a career high 29 points against Gilman City in the District Semifinals and added 18 more against 5th-ranked Winston in Worth County’s 57-39 victory. Cade suffered an injury against Stanberry in the third game of the season and sat out much of December, nursing what some observers feared was a season-ending injury. However, he returned against Stanberry and then put up 25 points against Braymer. Rarely prone to celebrations, he allowed himself a small celebration after that performance against last year’s Sectional foe. At 6’4” and a sharpshooter, he could stretch out defenses, opening up driving lanes for Ryan McClellan and inside shots and rebounding opportunities for Mason Hawk and Drake Kinsella. He scored his 1,000th career point against Princeton in the first game of the season.
Regan Allee put up stellar numbers against both North Harrison and Southwest Livingston, fueling Worth County’s best performance since the 2003-2004 season, which was also ended by Mound City. She holds the single game school record for most points scored with 35 and the most three-pointers with 11. Only a sophomore, she will continue to be a force for the Tigers if she continues to stay healthy. She had 22 points in Worth County’s 66-40 win over East Harrison, 14 against North Harrison, and 18 more against Southwest, which was ranked third in the state. Always ready to pull the trigger, she has been able to drive into the lane as well.
