Ashley Rush will become Sheridan’s next mayor following the April 3rd Municipal Election. She will replace Leland Wake, who did not seek reelection. She will be joined by incumbents Mary Jo Riley and Candace Martin, who both sought reelection without opposition.
Rush currently serves as the City Tax Collector. She will be replaced by Miranda Lyle, who filed for the position and will be seated without opposition. Rush also serves on the Sheridan Fire Board and will continue to serve in that role. Lyle serves as the Deputy Clerk to Roberta Owens, and will continue to serve in that position.
Since the City of Sheridan opted out of having elections in the event of there being no contested races, it means that a write-in candidate cannot file and win. Grant City, on the other hand, did not opt out of having elections, meaning a write-in candidate could file for their council positions and people will vote on the council seats there on April 3rd. A complete list of candidates across the county who will assume office without an election can be found in this week’s Sheridan Express.
