Anna Gladstone Posts Three Firsts, Junior High Girls Win North Andrew, Boys Tie for Third

Anna Gladstone secured three first place finishes at a big meet in North Andrew and Worth County edged out St. Joseph Christian. Worth County's girls won with 102 points followed by Christian with 79. On the boys side, South Harrison won with 66 points, followed by 60 for Mound City. Maysville and Worth County tied for third with 49 points.

Anna Gladstone picked up her first win in the 200 by edging out Soncea Kneib of DeKalb. She won with a time ot 29.73 to Kneib's 29.84.

Gladstone picked up her second win in her specialty event, the 100 Hurdles. She won with a time of 18.11 to 18.46 for St. Joseph Christian's Allyah Smith.

All three relay teams placed at North Andrew. The 4x100 team of Megan Cassavaugh, Anna Spainhower, Nevada Hoff, and Regan Allee was second with a time of 1:00.08. The 4x200 team of Megan Cassavaugh, Jill Hardy, Anna Spainhower, and Regan Allee was fourth with a time of 2:07.12. The 4x400 team of Megan Cassavaugh, Jill Hardy, Braidy Hunt, and Regan Allee was third with a time of 4:56.41.

The girls placed two in the High Jump. Anna Gladstone was fourth with a height of 4'4", while Anna Spainhower was right behind her with a height of 4'2, good enough for fifth.

The girls also placed two in the Pole Vault. Regan Allee was second with a height of 8 feet, a personal best. Hannah McElvain was fifth with a height of 6 feet.

Anna Gladstone picked up her third win of the afternoon by running away with the Long Jump. She won with a jump of 14'9", almost a foot ahead of her nearest competitor.

Kristin New was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 26'6 1/2".

Merrideth Spiers ran away with the Shot Put, winning with a throw of 36'4 1/2". That was almost four feet ahead of her nearest competitor. Kaylee McElvain was fifth with a throw of 31' 2 1/4".

Worth County was 1-2 in the Discus with some outstanding performances there. Merrideth Spiers won her second event of the afternoon with a personal best throw of 98'11 1/2". That was 13 feet better than her previous best throw. Kaylee McElvain was second with a throw of 91' 10 3/4", also a personal best.

On the boys side, Daniel Craven beat his personal best in the 1600 by 12 seconds and was sixth with a time of 5:42.56.

The boys placed two in the 100 Hurdles as Lucky Gladstone was third with a time of 18.53, a personal best. Jaxon Anderson was sixth with a time of 22.46.

The 4x100 team of Andrew Alarcon, Lucky Gladstone, Nate Adwell, and Jaxson Anderson was third with a time of 54.48. The 4x200 team of Andrew Alarcon, Lucky Gladstone, Nate Adwell, and Jaxon Anderson was sixth with a time of 1:56.33. The 4x400 team of Daniel Craven, Nate Adwell, Zayne Swope, and Johnny Mancuso was fifth with a time of 4:21.61. That was almost 30 seconds better than their previous best time.

Nate Adwell won the Pole Vault in impressive fashion. He won with a height of 9'6", beating his previous best time by a foot. Daniel Craven was fifth with a height of 7'6".

Jaxon Anderson was fifth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 32'11".

Wyatt Latham was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 35'10 1/2". He picked up Worth County's second first place finish of the afternoon with an impressive showing in the Discus. Beating his previous best throw by almost 17 feet, he won with a throw of 123'10 1/2". That was over 18 feet better than the second place finisher.
