Hopkins Community Betterment to Sponsor Pulled Pork Dinner April 30th

The Hopkins Community Betterment will offer a pulled pork dinner April 30th to raise funds for a walking trail in the park. Included in the project will be the construction of a chain link fence for the baseball field that will enclose both the ball diamond and the football field. The football field will remain in its present location, and there will be a t-ball field southeast of where the football field is located. The walking trail will run through the park and run behind the chain link fence. The fence will separate the home crowd from the football sideline.

The fence will be 315 feet, allowing Hopkins to host baseball district tournaments. It would also allow balls hit into the creek to count as home runs; current ground rules require balls hit into the creek to count as ground rule doubles. There were two or three such balls hit by Braymer in Friday's game.

The event will start at 5 pm with a dinner at the Hopkins Community Building and a concert by the Gypsy Wind Band held in front of the building. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Roxy Theater. The dinner will be held until 7 while the band will play until the crowd goes home.

The Hopkins CBC is seeking donations for the project. Donations can be mailed to Hopkins CBC in care of Barb Miller, PO Box 42, Hopkins, MO 64461.
