County Commission Minutes for May 2nd, 2011

Worth County

April Adjourn Term

May 2nd 2011

1. Commissioner Findley called the meeting to order at 9:00 am.

2. Bob Holthaus from Missouri Association of Counties Workers Comp. representative came to discuss safety at the work place. He presented the Counties previous accident reports and asked that the commissioners look them over to see if there was something that could have been done to prevent the accidents. He left several packets of information.

3. Commissioner Rob Ruckman reported the gas prices as 3709 for gas, and 1999 for diesel.

4. Commissioner Rob Ruckman made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Dennis Gabbert seconded. Motion carried.

5. Commissioner Rob Ruckman made a motion to approve bills. Commissioner Dennis Gabbert seconded. Motion carried.

6. Treasurer Linda Brown presented the treasurer report and weekly balance sheet.

7. Road and Bridge Foreman Jim Fletchall report:

  • They just have to put the railing on the New Hope Bridge (CR 172) and take out the crossing and it will be complete.
  • The commissioners discussed the roads that would be used as a bypass when the bridge is out on Highway C. The county will also do an extra incentive 100% patron match for roads in the area that get used at bypasses. Clerk Roberta Owens will send out letters to appropriate land owners explaining the situation.
  • Commissioner Gabbert talked to Steve Combs, he has the generator finished. He advised that they park the generator inside, and start it once a month for a test run.
  • The road crew is working on CR 60 to widen it.
  • Commissioner Ruckman asked if Fletchall would help draw up a map of the county roads that have shared maintenance with other counties.

8. County employees and Officials: Donna Lynch came to request a tube for a driveway north of town. She was advised to talk to Jim Fletchall about what size she would need.

9. Bridget Gibson, Times Tribune questioned the commissioners about what they had in mind for a memorial stone for the sesquicentennial celebration. Gabbert has a rock on his property that will work to be engraved on for the monument in the courtyard. They will have the dedication ceremony at 3:00pm. on Saturday July 2nd.

10. At 12:40 Commissioner Rob Ruckman made motion adjourn for recess and lunch, to look at used parts for some equipment. Richard Supinger has a bucket for the loader, and Marvin King has a burnt dozer with a blade that made work. Gabbert seconded. Motion carried.

11. Pat Kobbe, Emergency Management Coordinator stopped by to discuss some meetings. The Earthquake drill will be on May 19th. There will be a foreign Animal Disease Plan meeting held at the courthouse on May 26th at 1:00.

12. Ruckman ordered a Manuel for TD 15 International Dozer, and manual for the 515 Dresser loader.

13. Discussed the next meeting. May 9th is Truman’s birthday so the courthouse will be closed. The commissioners will meet on Tues. May 10th at 9:00am

14. Commissioner Dennis Gabbert made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Rob Ruckman seconded. Motion carried.
