On February 24th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Elizabeth Elston (45) of Maryville alleging Speeding (20-25 mph over).
On February 24th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the Afton Police Department about conducting a search warrant on a residence in Diagonal for stolen property. The search was conducted and the property was turned over to the Afton Police Department. While inside the residence, drug paraphernalia and illegal narcotics were visible. The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department got its own warrant. Arrested were Nicole Ott (36) and David Giles (34) of Diagonal on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Meth, Possession of Marijuana, Unlawfully Manufacturing or Delivering Marijuana, Unlawfully Manufacturing or Delivering Methamphetamine, Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs. Bond was set at $20,000 each.

On February 26th, a White Supremacist, John Cameron Denton (26) of Montgomery (TX) was arrested on federal charges of making swatting calls to a member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet, an African-American church in Virginia, Pro-Publica (a news organization), a reporter who works for Pro-Publica, and Old Dominion University (VA). Swatting is the practice of falsely stating that someone is in danger of imminent bodily harm at the victim’s address.

On February 26th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Leslie John Smith (35) of Mount Ayr on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Felony), No Drug Tax Stamp (Felony), Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Stolen Property. He was being held on no bond until seen by a magistrate.
From February 27th to March 2nd, Putnam County Prosecutor Thomas Keedy filed charges against Rebecka Larson (36) of Cincinnati (IA) alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), two counts Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony).
Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after officers got a tip that she was in Putnam County and was wanted on warrants. Officers arrived at the residence and discovered that a minor child was present while she was using meth. Also charged was Jimmie Holliday, who was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On February 29th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reported that scammers had been calling people in their name, demanding payment for unpaid fines or small claims debts. If there is a warrant out for your arrest, most sheriffs’ departments will knock on your door. If you have received a phone call purporting to be from law enforcement, contact your local law enforcement first.

On March 2nd, Joe Downing (52) of Maryville pleaded guilty to two counts Delivery of Controlled Substance (Felony). He was sentenced to five years incarceration with the Missouri Department of Corrections. Court retains jurisdiction and will call back the defendant in 120 days for sentencing or parole.

On March 2nd, at around 7:30 pm, a cop car with its lights flashing went through Barnard Street in Hopkins and proceeded westbound on Route JJ.
On March 2nd, KCTV5 reported that a Ludlow (MA) woman, Nancy Golec, was charged in Massachusetts with four counts of Animal Cruelty (Felony). The charges occurred after two horses were found living in piles of manure on her property last month. On February 5th, it took a team of animal rescuers more than two hours to dig the horses out of their stalls. The manure had piled up so high, the horses couldn’t exit through the door. Their hooves were overgrown, disfigured, and they were underweight and deformed.

On March 3rd, Caldwell County Prosecutor Brady Kopek filed charges against Taylor Pratt (27) of Braymer alleging five counts Stealing Meth Manufacturing Material (Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Forgery (Felony), and Abuse of Elderly Person. Bond was set at $25,000, cash only, with supervision by Supervision Services and drug patch. Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after she was employed as a Nurses Aide at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer. On February 17th to 18th, other employees noticed Fentanyl patches missing from residents who were using them for pain relief.
