Dwayne George Wilsie Staton was born April 29, 1934 to William and Grace (Smith) Staton in Grant City, Missouri. He passed away October 24, 2018 at the Worth County Convalescent Center with his three youngest children at his side.
Dwayne grew up in the Allendale and Grant City area in the farming life. He graduated from Worth County School and joined the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War. He was proud of his service and was very involved in the American Legion until his health started to fail. He continued to farm for many years and worked at Gentry County Memorial Hospital in Albany, Missouri as a physical therapy aide for many years.
Dwayne was married to Geneveive (Hoover) in Sheridan, Missouri. They had three children; Treasa (Dale) Winemiller of Rolla, Missouri, Sandi Meredith of Bedford, Iowa, and William (Frankie) Staton of Sheridan, Missouri. They later divorced. He married Beverly Jean Owens on April 6, 1968. In April of this year they were able to celebrate 50 long years of happiness, feuding and fussing. They had three children; Wilsie Jean (Kevin) Fletchall, Carl (Jennifer) Staton and Robert (Treasa) Staton, all of Grant City.
He will be remembered by many for his constant pranking and humor, which his children have inherited that gene. He had a good heart and big dreams. He was very proud of his children , grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all of them.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Grant City, Missouri; 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Assembly of God Church in Grant City, Missouri. Pastor Len Green officiated. Inurnment will be in Honey Grove Cemetery in Grant City with military honors. Arrangements were under direction of Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City.
