Tyler New Swipes Nine as Junior High Tigers Stop North Harrison

Tyler New had 9 steals and Worth County held off North Harrison’s attempts to get back into the game, getting a 27-18 victory last Monday.

It looked like Worth County would run away with it early, as Levi Cassavaugh and Elias Alarcon hit triples and Tyler New scored off a steal and again off a Cassavaugh steal to make it 10-0. Grant Trusty countered with a shot from the left wing for North Harrison, but Tanner Ridge cut inside for a basket and Tyler New hit a 3-pointer to make it 15-2 at the 54 second mark of the first quarter.

But then North Harrison started making use of their height advantage and their balanced scoring, chipping away for the rest of the game. Nick Babinski scored to close out the first quarter off a drive, Kamden Robertson hit a free throw, and Keygun Johnson added another to get it under double digits at 15-6. Tyler New went coast to coast and Levi Cassavaugh added a putback to make it 19-6, but North Harrison kept coming, getting a putback from Robertson, and free throws from Tyson Gibson and Cole Kampman to make it 19-10 at the break.

Robertson scored off a steal to cut North Harrison’s deficit to 19-12, and then the game was played on the North Harrison end much of the period, as the Shamrocks kept missing shots, but keeping possessions alive with offensive boards. Karsyn Ury’s free throw made it 19-13, but then Tyler New broke the lid on the Worth County basket, going coast to coast and stole the ball, giving it to Levi Cassavaugh. Tanner Ridge added a putback to make it 25-13 at the 44 second mark of the third.

Tyler New cut inside to make it 27-14 at the 5:25 mark. North Harrison got putbacks from Tyson Gibson and Cole Kampman to make it 27-18 at the 3:21 mark, but they could get no closer.
