Wilbur Dean Byrns was born April 24, 1927 in Taylor County, Iowa to Vernie and Eva (Black) Byrns. He passed away on August 8, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri at the age of 91.
Wilbur served in the United States Army from 1945-1946. He married Betty Parker on September 29, 1949 in Eureka Springs, Missouri. To this union 2 children were born: Bob and Bill Byrns. Betty survives of the home in Grant City.
Wilbur was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Grant City Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Otis and infant Doyle Byrns.
He is also survived by sons Bob of Kansas City, Missouri and Bill and wife Joan of Allerton, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Matt and wife Karen Byrns, Libby Byrns, Adele and husband Brennen Javorsky and Olivia Byrns: 3 great-grandchildren: Xander, Lexi and Leland and 2 sisters: Leona Stephenson of Maryville, Missouri and Marilyn Loghry of Sloan, Iowa.
Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Grant City Baptist Church. Interment was in Athelstan Cemetery near Blockton, Iowa. Open visitation was Friday, August 10, 2018 at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City.
