Recount Upholds Meggan Brown Primary Victory

A recount conducted by Worth County Clerk Roberta Owens upheld Meggan Brown’s primary victory over Ashley Rush for the Recorder of Deeds spot. Brown will face Democratic incumbent Barb Foland in November.

Owens called in a team of election workers to go over the votes from Tuesday, August 8th. They found that Brown had won with 225 votes to 224 for Ashley Rush, which is what was posted Tuesday night.

Rush has the option of seeking another recount; she can go to court, and Associate Circuit Judge Joel Miller would order a second recount. Rush and Brown would each appoint four canvassers, who would do another count of the ballots under Owens’ supervision.
