Worth County will host its annual jamboree Friday, August 17th starting at 7 pm. The editor of the Sheridan Express has made a handshake bet in the presence of a dozen members of the Snakebite crowd and two Tiger football players that if Worth County wins back to back state titles, he will be pulled in the shovel race at the Sheridan Rodeo next year by Henry Rowen. Worth County has seven state titles under its belt, but only one back to back state title run, in 2000 and 2001.
The Tigers will know right away if they have the capability of making another state title run, as perennial powerhouse Stanberry along with back to back Final Four team King City will be at the Jamboree, along with Albany.
The game schedule is as follows:
Albany vs. Worth County
King City vs. Stanberry
Worth County vs. Stanberry
King City vs. Albany
Albany vs. Stanberry
Worth County vs. King City
Each team will run 12 consecutive offensive plays per contest. Teams start with the ball on their own 15 and drive with 1st and 10. Turnovers will reset the ball and start a new drive. Each team will run all 12 plays before changing possession. There will be no kicking game.
Admission will be $4 for adults and $3 for students. Concessions will be available.
