Four people were injured in two ATV accidents over the weekend. In the first one, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a 2004 Honda ATV driven by Jonathan Hughes of Grant City was southbound on Goldenrod Trail 7 miles west of Grant City. The Honday accelerated rapidly, causing the front wheels to come off the ground, ejecting Hughes and a passenger, Haley Ridler of Maryville. The Honda continued south and came to rest facing east on the roadway. Both the driver and passenger came to rest in the roadway. The accident happened around 5:35 p.m. in the evening. Ridler was seriously injured and was taken by the Worth County Ambulance to St. Francis in Maryville. Hughes received minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
The second accident occured the same evening at around 8:35 p.m. on Jade Road 5 miles south of Grant City. The Patrol reports that a 2004 Honda ATV driven by Jesse Hale of Ridgeway was southbound on Jade Road when it traveled off the east side of the roadway into a ditch and overturned several times. Both occupants were ejected and came to rest in the ditch. The Honda came to rest in the ditch. Hale received minor injuries and refused medical attention. A passenger, Lisa Bounds, received serious injuries and was taken by Worth County Ambulance to the Northwest Medical Center in Albany.
