Junior High Tigers Win Home Meet; Girls Third in Tight Race

Worth County’s junior high boys ran away with their home meet last Tuesday, April 26th while the girls were edged out in a three way race. 

For the boys, Worth County had 1321/3, Gallatin 57, South Harrison 47½, Rock Port 461/3, King City 39, Albany 29, South Holt 261/3, East Atchison 24, Nodaway Valley 19½, Maysville 19, St. Gregory’s 16, North Harrison 6, Pattonsburg 1, and St. Joseph Christian 1.

For the girls, Platte Valley won with 77 while South Harrison had 75, Worth County had 66, Maysville 51½, Albany 50, Rock Port 39, St. Gregory’s 32, East Atchison 21½, Nodaway Valley 12, Pattonsburg 11, East Harrison 11, Stanberry 7, NEN 5, South Holt 5, and King City 2.

Rayleigh Smith got a personal best and got second in the 100 with a time of 14.63. Brylea Paxson was sixth in the 800 with a time of 3:03.95. Paxson got a personal best in the 1600 with a fourth place finish of 6:26.25. Riley Ridge got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a fourth place time of 18.62. 

The 4x100 team of Katie Fletchall, Keira Hardy, Addie Gray, and Rayleigh Smith won and got a personal best time of 56.51, almost two seconds off their previous best time. The 4x200 team of Katie Fletchall, Alivia Moyer, Keira Hardy, and Addie Gray took over a second off their time and finished third with a time of 2:04.85. The 4x400 team of Keira Hardy, Riley Ridge, Rylee Ruckman, and Alivia Moyer took over eight seconds off their time and finished fifth with a time of 5:02.29.

Riley Ridge was fifth in the High Jump with a height of 4’5¼”. Sara Fletchall got a personal best and won the Pole Vault with a height of 6’6”, while Kambree Briner was fourth with a height of 6 feet. Riley Ridge was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 27’8¾”. Rylee Ruckman was second in the Discus with a throw of 72’1” while Addie Gray was sixth with a throw of 61’5”. 

Bo Collins got a personal best in the 100 and won with a time of 12.79. Collins also got a personal best in the 200 and won with a time of 25.84, holding off Dylan Lair (Rock Port), who had a time of 25.93. Brayden Stevens won the 400 with a time of 59.27. Lucas Frisch was fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:35.18. Both 100 Hurdlers got personal bests. Brayden Stevens won with a time of 15.96, while Andrew Griffin was fourth with a time of 18.04.

The 4x100 Relay Team of Andrew Griffin, Lucas Frisch, Brayden Murphy, and Franklynn Taute got a personal best and won with a time of 52.09. The 4x200 team of Sawyer Thurman, Lucas Frisch, Brayden Murphy, and Franklynn Taute was edged out by King City for first but still got a personal best time of 1:49.04, one second better than their previous best. The 4x400 team of Brayden Murphy, Brayden Combs, Sawyer Thurman, and Franklynn Taute took 17 seconds off their time and won with a time of 4:15.18. 

Bo Collins was fourth in the High Jump with a height of 5’1”. Brayden Stevens won the Pole Vault with a height of 9 feet, while Brayden Combs was fourth with a personal best 7’11¾”. Brayden Stevens won the Long Jump with a personal best 17’3¾”. Franklynn Taute was fourth with a jump of 15’4¾”. Andrew Griffin won the Triple Jump with a jump of 35’2” while Lucas Frisch was second with a jump of 33’8¼”. Bo Collins had an impressive performance in the Discus, winning and improving his throw by 13 feet, getting 146’11¾”.
