Courthouse News for May 4th, 2022

On April, 21 2022 at approximately 1:58 pm, 65-year-old Robert Alan Bentley of Diagonal was traveling North on Co Hwy P33. Bentley was driving through the S curves south of Diagonal. Bentley’s 2015 Ford F250 left the road and the vehicle came to a rest after striking a tree. Bentley was transported to RCH by ambulance for suspected injuries.

On April 25th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Tyler Parkhurst (28) of Albany alleging DWI and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On April 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jeffrey Base (60) of Bethany on charges of DWI and Failure to Display Lighted Lamps.

On April 26th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Timothy Mott (60) of Maryville alleging DWI.

On April 26th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Dallas Earley (27) of Mount Ayr alleging Driving While Revoked. Bond was set at $300, cash only.

On April, 27, 2022 at approximately 3:13 pm, 25-year-old Samantha Rose Grim of Diagonal was traveling South on Co Hwy P33. Grim lost control due to loose gravel. Grim’s 2002 Buick Regal entered the west ditch coming to a stop at the bottom. Grim was transported by family to Greater Regional Hospital.

On April 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Brenda Harvey (45) of Ravenwood alleging Attempted Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felony) and Peace Disturbance. Bond was denied.

On April 27th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Edith Hovey (79) of Bethany was on Findley Road in Bethany at around 1:30 pm that afternoon when she fell from her vehicle, which rolled backwards and struck her and a mailbox. Hovey was seriously injured and was lifeflighted to St. Joseph.

On April 27th, two cars collided at the entrance of the road leading to Casey’s and Pizza Ranch on 136 on the east side of Maryville at around 3 pm that afternoon. Two Maryville city police units responded.

On April 27th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Todd McGinley (51) of Stanberry alleging Harassment (Felony).

On April 27th, a Cameron Officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Second Street and Main which is near City Hall at approximately 4:00 pm.  During the stop the officer was talking to three subjects in the vehicle. During the stop one male juvenile ran from the stop running south. Several officers and State Troopers searched the area and later he was found hiding in a backyard near playground equipment near Cherry and Cornhill Street. He ran again and was taken into custody at Prospect and Chestnut.  Back at the vehicle drugs, two loaded handguns and cash where located. The Juvenile Officer was contacted and the juvenile is being taken to a detention center awaiting formal charges. 

On April 28th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2011 Ford F-150 with a towed unit driven by a 17 year old teen was southbound on Grand Avenue in King City when it stopped. A 17 year old passenger in the towed unit was attempting to secure an item when he fell off when the vehicle stopped, resulting in moderate injuries.

On April 29th, lightning struck a building at the Southview Apartments on South Main in Maryville. Lightning struck a rain gutter and followed the mitigation system to the ground. There were no injuries and little damage to the building.

On April 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Jeffrey Trillo (59) of Barnard alleging DWI and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway (Accident).

On April 29th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reported that a 2005 Dodge pulling a trailer driven by Michael Zarr (66) of Mount Ayr was driving through the school parking lot when he swiped a 2020 Honda van owned by Jason Shaffer of Mount Ayr. Minor damage was sustained to both vehicles, and there were no injuries.

On April 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Abel Fanuel (19) of Des Moines in Harrison County on a charge of Speeding and a Daviess County Warrant for Failure to Appear (Driving While Revoked).

On April 30th, a Hopkins woman reported that someone had run over her dog.

On May 1st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Lisa Songer (55) of Maryville alleging Stealing.

On May 1st, a Worth resident reported that someone’s dogs were loose in their yard for over two hours, with one of them bleeding around its neck. 

On May 2nd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Debbie Pottorff (50) of Bethany in Harrison County on charges of DWI and No Seat Belt.

On May 2nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Wendy Dies (36) of Ames (IA) alleging DWI, Resisting Arrest (Felony), and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). Bond was set at $25,000, cash only.

On May 3rd, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Danielle Morgan (30) of Grant City alleging Tampering with Motor Vehicle (Felony).

On May 3rd, an Oxford woman reported that she got a scam call, put them on her speaker phone, and went silently about her cleaning. After just over a minute and a half, they hung up.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
