Around 30 households in the Sheridan, Oxford, and Isadora areas have signed up expressing interest in either a new rural water district or in joining an existing district. A special meeting was held in Sheridan, in which interested parties signed up. “I’ve lived at my place since the 1970’s, and we’ve had hot water twice,” said Bob Young. When neighboring rural water districts were formed, there was an area surrounding Sheridan, Oxford, and Isadora that never became part of any rural water district, forcing landowners to dig their own wells.
Worth County Economic Developer Kevin Fisher said that people in the area can still sign up expressing interest in rural water. They can do so by calling him at (660) 783-5202 or visit him at the Extension Office on Mondays or Tuesdays. The next step is to contact existing rural water districts and look at their options.
