A Maryville man was seriously injured Sunday evening and lifeflighted in a UTV wreck five miles north of Maryville at around 10:15 pm, and the driver was arrested.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2016 Polaris UTV driven by Adam Mattson (31) of Maryville was southbound on Hawk Road when he traveled off the east side of the roadway, overturned, and struck a fence. A passenger, Phillip McGinley (60) of Maryville, was ejected from the vehicle and moved prior to law enforcement arrival. He received serious injuries and was life flighted to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Subsequently, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Mattson on charges of DWI (Felony, Serious Physical Injury), Leaving the Scene (Felony), Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), and Unlawfully Operating UTV on Highway.
