Courthouse News for October 6th, 2021

On the night of September 27th and the morning of September 28th, multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a late night operation throughout Northwest Missouri. There were 64 traffic stops, 18 arrests, and 52 citations.

On September 28th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office arrested Randall Martin (53) of Creston on a charge of Failure to Maintain Control. The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office says that the charges arose after a hit and run accident in Diagonal in which there was an estimated $1,000 in damaged property.

On September 28th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Richard Arnold (50) of Ravenwood alleging No Valid License (Felony).

On September 28th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Michael Presslor (33) of Chrisman (IL) alleging Burglary (Felony) and Stealing (Felony). Bond was set at $30,000, cash or corporate surety.

On September 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Jason Mendoza (44) of San Diego (CA) alleging Tampering with a Motor Vehicle (Felony). Bond was set at $50,000, cash only. Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after the defendant allegedly took a truck, trailer, and mower from the Eagleville Welcome Center on I-35 Tuesday evening, September 28th. The defendant and the property were located minutes later.

On September 30th, the Chillicothe Police Department reported that officers received a report of a stolen 1999 Mercury Sable. The vehicle was later recovered, where a 2001 Chevy Silverado was stolen. The pickup was later observed by officers and a massive chase ensued through the streets of Chillicothe before it became disabled. Mikall Foster (29) of Chillicothe was arrested and charged with Tampering (Felony), Resisting Arrest (Felony), and Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony).

On September 30th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Melissa Woollums (34) of Diagonal alleging two Controlled Substance Violations (Felony). Bond was set at $40,000, cash only.

On September 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Ashton Arndt (20) of Gallatin alleging Failure to Register, No Valid License, No Insurance, and No Seat Belt.

On September 30th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Brian Cain (43) of Oregon (MO) alleging Resisting Arrest, Speeding (26+ mph over), and Failure to Stop.

On October 1st, Radio Iowa reported a federal judge ordered a southern Iowa dog breeder, Daniel Gingerich, to have a veterinarian conduct head to tail evaluations of every dog on his property at Maple Hill Kennel near Seymour (IA), and stop breeding, euthanizing, or disposing of any dogs. Federal USDA inspectors alleged dogs were being fed moldy, contaminated food and did not have access to water. They also alleged he evaded USDA oversight by hiding dogs from USDA inspectors and committed at least 100 violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

On October 2nd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Rick Williams (23) of Lee’s Summit in Nodaway County on charges of No Valid License, Speeding, No Seat Belt, and a Cass County Warrant for Failure to Appear (No Valid License).

On October 2nd, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Ricky Mart (67) alleging Assault (Causing Bodily Injury). Bond was set at $1,000.

On October 3rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Cale Hitt (23) of Humeston (IA) in Harrison County on charges of Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway and a Buchanan County Misdemeanor Warrant.

On October 3rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Joseph De La Paz (40) of Maryville alleging No Valid License (Felony) and Failure to Register. Bond was set at $500, cash only.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
