Worth County’s boys had a much easier time against West Platte Saturday in Sectionals than they did in Districts, winning handily to take the meet and keep their record intact. The Tigers had 90 team points, followed by Princeton with 65, West Platte 64, Pattonsburg 58, Mound City 48, Green City 45, Southwest Livingston 41, Stanberry 39, East Atchison 37, Meadville 36, South/Nodaway-Holt 29, Linn County 23, Stewartsville 22, Platte Valley 19, King City 17, North Andrew 17, Novinger 16, Albany 14, NEN 10, St. Joseph Christian 10, Rock Port 9, North Harrison 9, Newtown-Harris 4, Winston 4, Gilman City 3, and North/West Nodaway 3.
The girls were edged out by West Platte, which had 86 team points to 77 for Worth County. Green City had 57, Stanberry 56, Platte Valley 50, Southwest Livingston 46, Mound City 42, Rock Port 38, Princeton 34, King City 32, St. Joseph Christian 30, East Atchison 25, DeKalb 25, East Harrison 23, North Harrison 20, Tri-County 19, Meadville 18, South Holt 17, Osborn 8, Grundy County 6, Breckenridge 4, Novinger 3, Newtown-Harris 2, and Pattonsburg 2.
For the girls, the Tigers qualified two for the State Championship Meet. Liz Lyle matched a personal best with a jump of 5 feet for third, while Anna Gladstone was fourth with a jump of 4’10”.
Two Tigers qualified for State in the Pole Vault. Regan Allee won with a vault of 9 feet. Jessi Badell was third with a vault of 8 feet. For the boys, Nate Adwell qualified with a fourth place vault of 9’6”.
Anna Gladstone continued to peak at the right time in the Long Jump, getting consistently close to 17 feet as the season winds down. She won Saturday with a jump of 16’10½”. For the boys, Tevin Cameron was second with a jump of 20’2¾”. Caleb Parman was fifth with a jump of 19’1¼”.
For the girls, Liz Lyle was sixth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 33’4”. For the boys, Caleb Parman was fifth with a jump of 41’5”, while Jaxon Anderson was seventh with a personal best jump of 40’11¾”.
Merrideth Spiers won the Discus handily, getting a throw of 120’8”. Kennedy Galanakis was fifth, getting a personal best throw of 98’2”. The boys got a 1-2 finish as Drake Kinsella and Mason the Hawk both got personal bests. Drake Kinsella was first with a throw of 141’9”, while Mason Hawk was second with a throw of 139 feet. Merrideth Spiers was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 34’8¼”. For the boys, Drake Kinsella won with a throw of 48’3¾”. Mason the Hawk also qualified with a throw of 44 feet.
Tevin Cameron moved on in the Javelin, getting fourth with a throw of 144’7”.
Anna Gladstone continued to be victorious in the 100 Hurdles, getting a time of 16.45. Bryant McCord was second on the boys side in the 110 Hurdles, getting a time of 16.13.
Jaxon Anderson moved on in the 100, getting a fourth place time of 12.16.
The boys 4x100 team continued to win as the team of Tevin Cameron, Caleb Parman, Andrew Alarcon, and Bryant McCord got a time of 45.66.
Anna Gladstone moved on in the 300 Hurdles. She got fourth, but got a personal best time of 48.89, knocking a whole second off her time. Bryant McCord moved on for the boys, getting a fourth place finish of 43.21.
