Robert McDonald Kurtright, 91, Stanberry, MO passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Bob was born on May 30, 1926 in Stanberry, MO the son of James and Sara (Butterbaugh) Kurtright.
He graduated from Stanberry High School in 1944. Bob worked for the St. Joseph Newspress and Gazette as a motor route carrier for six years and was then a paper carrier district manager for the Newspress for ten years. He left the newspaper and then worked thirty years as a regional salesman for the JL Houston Company, a steel manufacturer, in Hopkins, Missouri before retiring.
Bob married the love of his life, Rosalie Walker on September 27, 1947 in King City, MO. She survives of the home. They were married almost 71 years.
Throughout his life, Bob served the residents of Stanberry in various capacities. He was a member of the city council, school board and C&S Club of Stanberry, president of the board for Friendly Heights Apartments in Stanberry which provides affordable housing for senior citizens, and he also served as a board member for the Stanberry Opportunity Workshop. Bob served as an elder at the Stanberry Christian Church where he was also a Sunday school teacher.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Kurtright in 1956 and his mother, Sara, in 1999.
Besides Rose, Bob is survived by his three sons and one daughter, Steve (Deborah) Kurtright, McKinney, TX, Jim (Martha) Kurtright, Omaha, NE, Terry (Debbie) Kurtright, Honolulu, HI, and Ronda Kurtright, Stanberry, MO. Bob was blessed with eight wonderful and loving grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one niece, JoBeth (Gary) Fitzpatrick, Dekalb, IL.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4 at the First Christian Church, Stanberry, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Burial followed in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO.
