Six Shamrocks Qualify for Track Sectionals

Six Shamrocks qualified to move on to sectionals Saturday as both teams finished in the upper half in the District Meet at South Harrison. Qualifying were Payton Craig, Mardee Sadowsky, and Emma Craig for the girls, while Cameron Hamaker, Gavin Garrett, and Ethan Valenti qualified for the boys.

For the girls, Green City had 148 team points, running away with the meet. Southwest Livingston had 92, East Harrison 73, Tri-County 65, Princeton 62, Meadville 59, North Harrison 43, Grundy County 22, Newtown-Harris 19, Novinger 18, Breckenridge 17, Pattonsburg 13, Gilman City 7, Linn County 4, Bucklin 4, and Winston 3.

For the boys, Princeton had 129 team points. Green City had 121, Pattonsburg 110, Meadville 82, Southwest Livingston 57, Novinger 45, North Harrison 39, Winston 36, Linn County 32, Newtown-Harris 19, Mercer 10, Grundy County 9, Gilman City 6, North Daviess 3, and East Harrison 2.

For the girls, Emma Craig was second in the Discus with a throw of 99’1½”. Craig also qualified in the Shot Put, getting a personal best throw of 32’8”.

Payton Craig continued to dominate the Javelin, getting a throw of 122’5” and nearly pulling off a throw of 130 feet, a throw that went out of bounds. For the boys, Gavin Garrett also moved on, getting a fourth place throw of 123’6”.

The Shamrocks placed two on the boys side in the 100. Ethan Valenti qualified and moved on with a second place finish of 12.21. Connor Stobbe was second with a time of 12.64.

The 4x200 boys team of Ethan Valenti, Connor Stobbe, Logan Huitt, and Cameron Hamaker was fifth with a time of 1:44.09.

In the girls 1600, Mardee Sadowsky qualified and moved on with a second place finish of 6:13.12. On the boys side, Gavin Garrett was sixth with a time of 5:17.71.

Vici Stellpflug was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:12.81 for the girls.

Mardee Sadowsky qualified in her second event in the 800, getting second with a time of 2:44.42. For the boys, Cameron Hamaker qualified, getting a fourth place time of 2:15.91.

Ethan Valenti qualified in his second event for the boys, getting a second place run of 24.92 in the 200.

The boys 4x400 team of Gavin Garrett, Cameron Hamaker, Ethan Valenti, and Logan Huitt was fifth with a time of 4:00.45.
