Worth County’s girls edged out Rock Port at Tarkio Friday, April 21st, but Mound City ran away with the meet again. Mound City ran away with the meet with 178.5 points to 126 for Worth County and 125 for Rock Port. The remaining competition was far behind; East Atchison had 52, South/Nodaway Holt 47, Stanberry 37.5, Osborn 12, North/West Nodaway 7, and Platte Valley 1.
The boys had one of their higher point totals of the year as they finished third. South/Nodaway Holt ran away with the meet with 155 points, followed by Mound City with 111. Worth County had 91, East Atchison 77, Rock Port 54, Stanberry 41, Platte Valley 21, Osborn 21, and North/West Nodaway 11.
In the 100, Payton Adwell edged out Megan Stevens (Rock Port), taking the event with a time of 14.15 to Stevens’ 14.23. Carley Baker (Mound City) was third with a time of 14.30.
Adwell was only fourth in the 200 prelims, but she made it all the way to first in that event in the finals, beating out Adrienne Messer (Mound City). Adwell had a time of 27.93 to Messer’s 28.04.
Kristin New placed in the long distance races, getting third behind the Mound City contingent with a time of 6:42.33. New got her highest time of the year in the 3200, getting second with a time of 14:10.96.
Anna Gladstone held off Hannah Wedlock (Mound City) in the 100 Hurdles, continuing to shave time off in that event and getting a personal best with a time of 16.80. Wedlock had 17.17; another top competitor, Megan Stevens (Rock Port) was third with a time of 17.29.
The 4x100 team of Payton Adwell, Regan Allee, Jessi Badell, and Nevada Hoff was third with a time of 55.99. The 4x400 team of Regan Allee, Abbi Caddenhead, Jessi Badell, and Nevada Hoff was fifth with a time of 5:14.84.
Liz Lyle won the High Jump with a height of 4’10”.
Regan Allee was second in the Pole Vault with a height of 8’6”. Jessi Badell continued to match her personal best, getting third with a height of 8 feet.
The Tigers were 1-2 in the Long Jump. Anna Gladstone won with a jump of 15’7¼”. Liz Lyle was second with a jump of 15’¼”.
Liz Lyle was fourth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 31’6½”.
Merrideth Spiers won the Shot Put for the first time all year with a throw of 35’8”. Kaylee McElvain was fifth with a throw of 28’7”. Spiers won the Discus with a throw of 115’8½, while McElvain was fourth with a throw of 97’7’. Rachael Gardner was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 84’10”.
On the boys side, Bryant McCord was third in the 200 with a time of 24.57.
Daniel Craven won the 3200 for the first time all year, getting a personal best with a time of 11:50.17.
Bryant McCord was third in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18.33.
The 4x100 team of Caleb Parman, Ryan McClellan, Jaxon Anderson, and Bryant McCord was second with a time of 47.93. The 4x200 team of Caleb Parman, Ryan McClellan, Drake Kinsella, and Jaxon Anderson was fifth with a time of 1:44.40. The 4x400 team of Drake Kinsella, Ryan McClellan, Alec Summers, and Mason Hawk was sixth with a time of 4:18.32.
Daniel Craven was fifth in the Pole Vault with a height of 9 feet.
Caleb Parman was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 18’½”.
Caleb Parman won the Triple Jump with a jump of 39’4½”. Jaxon Anderson was fifth with a jump of 34’7”.
The Tigers were 1-2 in the Shot Put. Drake Kinsella won with a throw of 43’10½”. Mason Hawk was right behind with a throw of 37’7”. Drake Kinsella got a personal best in the Discus and won with a throw of 119’6”. Mason Hawk was third with a throw of 108’11”. Jacob New posted a personal best in the Javelin and finished third with a throw of 115’3”.
