Tiger Girls Fifth, Boys Sixth in Districts

Worth County’s girls were fifth and the boys were sixth at the district track meet held in Albany Saturday.

On the girls side, Mound City ran away with 165 points. Rock Port and Stanberry had 92, Platte Valley had 56, Worth County 47, King City 42, Albany and North/West Nodaway 36, Stewartsville 35, DeKalb 28, East Atchison 20, North Andrew 18, Nodaway-Holt 17, South Holt 11, and St. Joseph Christian 6.

On the boys side, North Andrew won in similarly convincing fashion with 125.5 points. Stanberry had 75, King City 59.5, Mound City 58, North/West Nodaway 57, Worth County 49, St. Joseph Christian 46, Albany 45, Rock Port 42, Northeast Nodaway and Nodaway-Holt 28, South Holt 22, Stewartsville 21, DeKalb and East Atchison 18, and Platte Valley 9.

On the girls side, Payton Adwell placed second and got a personal best in the 200, getting a time of 27.62.

The 4x100 team of Jessi Badell, Abbi Caddenhead, Grace McElvain, and Kennedy Galanakis was fifth with a time of 55.64, posting their best time of the year.

The 4x200 team of Rikky Hunt, Payton Adwell, Grace McElvain, and Liz Lyle was fourth with a time of 1:57.69.

The 4x400 team of Payton Adwell, Rikky Hunt, Liz Lyle, and Abbi Caddenhead was sixth with a time of 4:45.93.

Liz Lyle was fifth in the High Jump with a height of 4’8”.

The girls placed two in the Pole Vault. Jessi Badell matched a personal best and placed fourth with a height of 7’6”. Tess Andrews tied for fifth with a height of 7 feet.

Liz Lyle showed her improvement in the Long Jump was no accident as she placed fourth with a jump of 14’8”. Worth County looks to be strong in both events as Lyle is a freshman and 8th grader Anna Gladstone excels in both.

Kennedy Galanakis won her first Discus all year, getting a winning throw of 100’8”. She, too, is only a freshman.

On the boys side, Brevyn Ross placed second in the 200 with a time of 23.87.

Jaden Jilek was fourth in the 400 and qualified with a time of 55.32.

Brevyn Ross was sixth in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 17.25. But he turned around and won the 300 Hurdles, with a time of 41.34.

The 4x100 team of Jayden Jilek, Lucas Caddenhead, Caleb Parman, and Nate Pointer was eighth with a time of 49.01.

The 4x200 team of Jayden Jilek, Nate Pointer, Tevin Cameron, and Brevyn Ross was fifth with a time of 1:37.81.

The 4x800 team was seventh with a time of 10:17.82, knocking 22 seconds off their previous best time.

The Tigers placed two in the Long Jump. Caleb Parman was sixth with a jump of 18’½”. Tevin Cameron was seventh with a jump of 17’9¾”.

Caleb Parman was fifth in the triple Jump with a personal best jump of 39’5”.

Drake Kinsella posted a personal best and qualified in the Shot Put with a throw of 40’3”. It was almost two feet better than his previous best throw.
