Doing God's Work for June 6th, 2012

by Glenda Wyer
June has arrived! It promises to be a busy month! June is a wonderful time to discover the true meaning of giving of one’s self for the glory of God by serving others. 1 Timothy 6:6-7 – “But Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out of it.” We should give thanks for God providing our needs. Contentment is doing God’s work for others through our prayers, time, and last but not least, listening to AND obeying God’s calling for us to serve Him.
Annual Conference June 8-11 at Springfield. Travis is planning to attend; perhaps Tim as well. They will have a lot of interesting events taking place for the first time this year, including a street dance among other activities.
Pastor Sue and Pastor Janis Tobias made a surprise visit Wednesday evening. A blessing to see and fellowship with them. A big PRAISE to God as the tests Pastor Sue has taken ruled out the MS possibility. Onward with medication in hopes that it will reverse the symptoms.
Hilary Steinman and Kody Pritchett exchanged wedding vows Saturday, June 2nd. God created a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding. We wish the newlyweds God’s guidance for many years of wedded bliss. Congratulations!
A retirement potluck dinner for Pastor Sue will be June 17th at Grant City UMC at noon. On June 24th, the Nodaway UMC will host at Ravenwood. On Old Defiance, UMC will have its annual bake sale Saturday, June 23rd. The location will be announced at a later date.
May God keep you safe this month and provide you with the strength to serve Him in various ways. See you in church!
