Good business records can be an important source of information when analyzing your business. Learning to develop good records can help you keep your business on the right track. In addition, good records will make filing income and sales taxes and other government reports easier.
University of Missouri Extension is offering QuickBooks Farm/Business Accounting training, in a series of four classes. This class will help you set up and use accounting principles and computer technology as an effective tool in your home or business environment. The total time commitment for all four class sessions would be 10 hours, approximately 1-1.5 working days total. However, the knowledge gained will probably save you many hours later.
This four-session workshop will be held in Grant City at the Worth County Fair Association Building. Participants will work independently at computer stations. For purposes of instruction, sample programs of QuickBooks 2010TM will be provided for your use. This will enable everyone to work on the same sample data sets. Efforts of University of Missouri Extension faculty, agriculture business specialists will ensure that you get the most out of these classes. Topics covered will include: setup; chart of accounts; enterprise accounting; establishing beginning account balances; enter checks, deposits, and payroll transactions; reconcile your records with bank statements; create budgets; and customize and generate financial records. You are not required to purchase computer software to participate in this class.
It is strongly recommended that all participants already have basic computer operation skills. You are the most important asset your business possesses. Invest in yourself and the future of your business by enrolling in this course today. Classes in will take place at Northwest 1:00 pm and last until 3:30 pm, beginning February 9th and run each Wednesday afternoon through March 2nd. Cost for the class is $40 per person.
