Letter to the Editor -- Barnes is for all people

The former Mayor Kay Barnes is including all people in her campaign; she is not discriminating, like Sam Graves. She just went to a fund raiser. Graves is showing his prejudices by playing politics and gay bashing, this is bigotry stereotyping and hatred.
Gays contribute to the Missouri economy, the almost 15,000 same-sex couples living in Missouri are similar to married couples. According to Census 2000, they live throughout the State, are racially and ethically diverse, have partners who depend upon one another financially, and actively participate in Missouri's economy. Census data also show that 20% of same-sex couples in Missouri are raising children. Individuals in same-sex couples in Missouri are significantly more likely to be employed than are married individuals.
Graves is using this issue as a Political wedge trying to distract voters from other major issues, such as, high gas prices, war in Iraq, jobs, the economy, and the fact that over 45 millions of Americans don't have health care. He is spending a vast majority of his media time attacking gay activist instead of focusing on the needs of all people in Missouri. He is being cold and calculating.
