Obituary -- Martha Parman 1928-2022

Martha Janice Parman, with family and friends at her side, peaceably passed away in Mesa, Arizona on August 31st, 2022 at the age of 94.  She was born June 14, 1928 in Blockton, Iowa to George and Guelda (Stephens) Moon.

Martha lived in Iowa for 33 years—she attended country school and graduated from Blockton High School where she met Gene Parman, the love of her life.  She married Gene in 1948 and they were together for 68 years.  To this union a son, Ronald Eugene, and daughter, Alicia Elaine was born.  Martha attended cosmetology school in Waterloo, IA and opened a beauty salon in her home for a few years.  Martha and family moved to Arizona in 1961 where she raised her children and lived for the remainder of her life.

Martha was a fastidious homemaker and she and her husband enjoyed traveling in the summer to escape the Arizona heat.  They had many RV’s and traveled to all the lower 48 states but always returned to Blockton during most of those summers.  When not traveling, Martha enjoyed dancing, playing cards and games, taking care of her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, parents George and Guelda Moon, brothers Eugene and Bill, and sister Phyllis Faubion.

She is survived by son Ronald and wife Lynn (McCarthy) of Talking Rock, GA; daughter Alicia and husband David Hall of Mesa, AZ; Grandsons Kevin Hall (Sarah) and Brandon Hall (Carolyn) of Colorado, and Adam Parman (Emily) of Georgia; Great-grandchildren Ella, Samuel, Cassidy, Matthew, and Katelyn Hall of Colorado, and Caitlin, Alaina, and Isaiah Parman of Georgia; many cousins, and nieces and nephews.

Martha will be greatly missed by her many friends and family and recent care givers.
