Tiger Boys Win Second Meet at King City; Girls Improve to 3rd

Worth County’s boys won again at King City, running away from King City and Stanberry, while the girls improved from seventh at their home meet to third Friday.

The boys won with 154 team points. King City had 109, Stanberry 100½, Platte Valley 68, Braymer 55½, Albany 48, Winston 44, Stewartsville/Osborn 41, Nodaway Valley 30, North Andrew 28, Gilman City 27, DeKalb 7, North Nodaway 2, and Union Star 2.

For the girls, Stanberry and DeKalb each had 96. Worth County had 74, Platte Valley 73, Braymer 53, Gilman City 44, North Andrew 44, Union Star 42, King City 39, Stewartsville/Osborn 38½, Albany 33, North Nodaway 30½, Nodaway Valley 30, and Winston 10.

Becca Smith was fourth in the 100 with a time of 14.53. The Tigers placed two in the 100 Hurdles. Eva Engel was fifth with a time of 21.71, while Brooklyn Richardson was sixth with 21.73. The Tigers also placed two in the 300 hurdles as Bridgette Hightshoe was third with a time of 59.68 and Brooklyn Richardson was fourth with a time of 59.88.

The 4x100 team of Hailey Adwell, Brooklyn Richardson, Becca Smith, and Emma Spencer was third with a time of 56.48. The 4x200 team of Becca Smith, Emma Spencer, Eva Engel, and Bridgette Hightshoe was fourth with a time of 2:01.20. 

Eva Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 7’0½”. Paige Sherer was third with a height of 6’6¾”. 

The Tigers were 2-3 in the Discus. Ali Brown was second with a throw of 97’7¼”, a personal best, while Kara Staton was 90’10¼”, good enough for third.  Ali Brown was fourth in the Javelin with a throw of 101’0½”. 

On the boys side, Levi Cassavaugh was third in the 100 with a time of 12.33. John Galanakis was fifth in the 200 with a time of 26 seconds. Cannon Fletcher got a personal best in the 800 with a fifth place finish of 2:26.96. Fletcher also got a personal best in the 1600,  knocking four seconds off his time and finishing second with a time of 5:09.72. The Tigers continued their usual dominance in the hurdle events. Jace Cousatte won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 17.74, followed by Aydan Gladstone with a second place finish of 18.45. They also placed 1-2 in the 300 Hurdles with Jace Cousatte getting a time of 44.83 and Aydan Gladstone getting a time of 45.94.

The 4x100 team of Jackson Smith, Carter Chapman, Landon Moser, and Tyler New was sixth with a personal best time of 51.14, seven seconds better than last time. The 4x200 team of Aydan Gladstone, Levi Cassavaugh, Braxton Hightshoe, and Jace Cousatte won with a time of 1:36.72, two seconds better than their previous best. The 4x400 team of Levi Cassavaugh, John Galanakis, Tyler New, and Braxton Hightshoe was third with a time of 3:56.22, close to their personal best. 

The Tigers placed two in the High Jump as Braxton Hightshoe was fourth with a height of 5’9”, and John Galanakis was fifth with a height of 5’7”. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Pole Vault as Aydan Gladstone won with a height of 10 feet and Levi Cassavaugh was second with a height of 9’6”, a personal best. Landon Moser was eighth in the Long Jump with a just of 16’1¼”. Jace Cousatte was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 37’10¾”. Tyler New was fifth with a personal best of 37’1¼”. 

Jase Latham was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 45’1¼”. Colt Cameron was seventh with a throw of 35’1¼”. Elias Alarcon was second in the Discus with a throw of 145’5¾”. Colt Cameron was third with a throw of 137’9”. Alex Rinehart was second in the Javelin with a throw of 141’8¾”. Tyler New got a personal best, finishing fourth with a throw of 118’11¼”.
