1882 Church Dinner in Redding Stolen

From the Facebook group “Ringgold County History” comes this entry from the 1882 Ringgold Record about a church dinner that was stolen. No names were given.

On last Monday, a furor was raised among the people of Redding. The members of the church had prepared a dinner and placed it in the church where a grand feast was anticipated; but lo! When they repaired to the church, all was gone, not a trace of anything was to be found, and their fruition was turned to anger. They finally succeeded in finding out one of the parties, who gave the others away, and they were all fined the enormous sum of 50 cents. “All is well that ends well.”
